Khajiit Brawler, Fistfighter, Boxer, etc.

Would it be viable to play a straights fist playthrough? Here is what i came up with:

Race- Khajiit
Skills:
Heavy armor- fists of steel perk
Smithing- to have the armor at its highest upgrade
Enchanting- for useful enchantments
Alchemy- stamina and healing potions

What y'all think?

I've never tried to kill a dragon with just punches. I will try it and get back to you.

I'm doing that character right now and let me start by saying it's surprisingly easy to take down enemies. I've only encountered one dragon, who took a few licks, but if it wasn't for the Whiterun guards and a fellow Khajiit caravan passing by, I don't know if I could've taken it down myself. Then again, I was only at level 5 and didn't have any other assists to boost my unarmed damage.

I'm planning on playing on master difficulty. What are you playing on?

Master. You'll be fine in melee combat, but take a follower along for support until you develop a good strategy because high level magic types can be difficult. To put damage in perspective, I can take down a Restless Draugr with about five punches.

I started a khajiit boxer character, seemed pretty good though I didn't stick with him as I wanted to finish up with my sword and shield char.

not sure how things'll scale at higher levels, but at the beggining anyway hand to hand is more powerful than swords, smithing and heavy armor are definetly a must, and I would suggest grabbing the gloves of the pugilist early on and disenchanting them to put on other items (unfortunately they're light armor).

as far as combat goes, it's not too different from a dual-wielding char, attack fast, no blocking, visually speaking it's a bit odd, as khajiit's attack with a swiping claw motion, but all the finishing moves are closed fist.

I haven't reached a high level yet, but when I had a sneak Khajiit character at level 32, I remember I could still take down enemies with my fists quite easily. I don't know if there's some hidden bonus attached to unarmed damage, like ignoring armor ratings or something, but that's what got me thinking about the viability of using an unarmed character.

And one more thing...while it may seem apparent to go with Heavy Armor for defense, don't ignore the possibility of using Light Armor. There is a light armor object that boosts your unarmed damage (won't say what or where for the sake of spoilers) and don't forget you use a lot of fatigue throwing punches, so it's good to have that stamina regeneration perk.

Furthermore, if you learned Enchanting, you could disenchant that object and apply the power to any type of gauntlets you want (and maybe rings, but not sure).

My next character is going to be about the same. I'm going to use a hunting bow with steel or iron arrows poisoned to thin out packs, and to get some use our of the high alchemy skill.
