Khajit have wares...if you have coin

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 2:36 pm

I have been staying away from all leaked material, as I'm sure a lot of you have as well, and the tantalizing bits they keep throwing to us in the form of developer diaries is driving me crazy! Not complaining at all, on the contrary, they are fantastic! Just when I think I cannot be any more excited or hyped up they drop some more footage and I'm higher than ever. Kudos to Bethesda for such an effective method of satisfying hungry fans while keeping them starving for more.

Anyway enough drooling... I want to know your favorite parts of the dev diaries we have so far. I think mine would have to be hearing Christopher Plummer recording dialogue and the voice clips of Ulfric Stormcloak in the latest one. Really sets a completely unique feel I can't compare to Oblivion or Morrowind.

Unless I misunderstood your statement, Chris Plumber is the voice of Arngeir, and not Ulfric?

That video was so cool. I don't take interest in leaks, so I'm happy it was an official one.

Yeah I should have clarified I was talking about two different things. Chris in the sound diary and Stormcloack in the environment art diary

I'm honestly not as excited for Skyrim as I was for Oblivion. With Oblivion, I was giddy as hell with hopes for a game that only improved on Morrowind, and in a lot of ways it did. But it didn't live up to my hype.

So, I'm not sure if it's just because I'm older or if I simply don't want to be disappointed but rather pleasantly surprised, but I'm only a little excited for the game. That excitement definitely grows with every passing day, but nowhere near the level of my Oblivion excitement.

That said, I did have a dream on Sunday that it was Thursday and I was excited... until I woke up and realized it was only Sunday.

I liked the siege weapons attacking the city or town. Dragons, big battles scenes, exploration. I kind of wish that I could take a pill that would make me sleep until 11:00 Thursday night.

Was it Ulfric who gave the mini-speech about, "I fight because I must." ? Cuz that was one badass one that gave me shivers.

Along with the final quote - "If you are Dragonborn, then... heh. There is hope after all."
Kinda made me feel the weight that my character will have to hold. ^_^

Did you also notice something else about that line?

"Khajiit have wares if you have coin"...

...Khajiit have wares...

...Khajiit have...

Not I have, or we have - Khajiit does! - He's talking like a proper daggerfall/morrowind khajiit, where they almost never speak in first person, none of this Oblivion crap where the khajiit and argonians shared much of the same dialogue lines and therefore invariably used first person pronouns and spoke like an Imperial.

This one thought it was the only one that cared about the Khajiit's way of speaking.

This one is glad it's back.

One line of dialogue and the Khajiit already seem much more interesting than in Oblivion.

"If you are Dragonborn, then... well, then there is hope after all."

This line at the end of the video gave me such chills. The voice acting is already multitudes better than Oblivion and I haven't even played the game yet.

That line made me worry a little. I don't want to be railroaded into helping a faction I don't agree with and that guy seemed very eager to accept your bloodline as a reason you're gonna save the day.

Lynda Carter is still voice acting the female Nord. :(

She didn't sound quite as nasal as in Oblivion though.

There's two sides to that coin. Your character could have just finished proving to him that he was Dragonborn. You can't deny that that line was a piece of hauntingly good voice acting in a video game.

EDIT: Didn't properly understand your statement at first. It could be the culture's view on what a Dragonborn is like allows this guy to readily believe.
