Kill this Guy Discreetly

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:51 pm

So I get my second quest from Gunmar and it is to kill this guy discreetly, he's suppose to be a vampire. Well anyway there is a vampire attack at the same time and he begins attacking the vampires attacking the city and then dies. Well good news I don't have to kill him discreetly, but logically I'm confused as heck.

Erm....

The guy was a vampire, vampires attack the city, vampires kill the vampire that I was suppose to kill, = logic?

Easy answer Dawnguard is not squeaky clean. Like the Salem witch trials, anyone you didn't like just say they are a Vampire n u can kill them.

I don't see the problem... Vamp on vamp violence is no more unusual or unlikely than human on human violence.

Exactly there are many quests on the vampire side where you kill other vampires.

Most of them are killing vampires or involve going into vampire dungeons

I think it was more a case of..
"Oh dang, Roberts gone unhinged and started an all out attack! If I don't do anything, and just keep walking people may suspect something is amiss! And since Civilian doctrine dictates I attack full on, I must engage Robert to secure my secret!"

Me walking around in DawnStar... Boom! Vampire attack! 3 guards and I kill them all. All is good until. "I usually deal with petty thievery and drunken brawls, been to long since we've had a good bandit raid." I was all like "WWWWWHHAAAAAATTTTT!?"

Maybe not all vampires are evil they dont actually have to kill people or turn them to feed. All they need do is give them a little nip on the neck while they sleep. So maybe the guy you got sent to kill wasn't so bad and joined in with defending the town when it got attacked by evil vamps.

Only because you let Harkon touch you in your secret place. The Lord part doesn't really mean squat. It's not an title of status.
You're more along the lines of a King Cobra than a King of [Location].

I'm still under the impression if they defined different vampire factions it would all but make sense.

Are you sure he was a Vampire though? Use the Detect Dead spell. It could also be a faction error in the Creation Kit.

Or, perhaps he was maintaining his cover and the attacking vampires didn't recognize him.

laughed my butt off first time I got this quest. My character was the Listener, so i was like "yeah this will be a walk in the park". Except the bugger was camped out in the Solitude courtroom! Ended up slipping a frenzy poison in a guards pocket. lol. problem took care of itself and I got to watch as Jarl Elesif beat the vampires skull in. Priceless!

He was playing his cover role as a human. Seems logical. Unfortunately, he zigged when he should have zagged. They aren't the sharpest tools.

Vampires are FIERCELY territorial anyone outside of their clan is an enemy. It's not uncommon for them to come into conflict.
