So i killed Caesar on Vhard hardcoe and the twist is...

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:32 pm

Bored out of my mind @ Lvl27, i was allowed to fast travel to "The Fort" and slaughtered everyone. Ran into Caesar's tend and killed him with 1 bullet from sniper rifle, he didn't even leave his chair. I'm gonna guess this is a is very unintended since the story is based around killing him.

Hint: Thats not Caesar in a power helm wearing Caesar's clothing.

The story is certainly not based around killing him. In fact, most endings don't have you kill him. I actually don't think he's the kill target of any quests.

Right... so once every player reaches the point on in the quest of the Hoover Dam assault, you know the one that ends the game, that has nothing to do w. Caesar and his Legion huh? Might wan't to rephrase your whole statement.

His statement is fine. A large majority of the questline do not have you kill Caeser. You can, if you pick it, fight Lanius.

If anyone needs to rephrase anything, it's you. I never said it had nothing to do with Caesar or his Legion. Just that it's not about killing him. The fight is against Lagate Lanius.

And Caesar's Legion can exist easily with Caesar dead. Both him and Kimball have opportunities to die before the battle.

Spoiler
Follow the CL quest, you find he has a tumor. Follow an opposing faction the final mission you fight some high ranking legionaire, meaning he has died or is dying, so he dies unless you follow the CL quest and save him. So its not about him, its about the legion/ncr/mr house all fighting for the majove.

You missing the point.... THE GAME ENDS whether you become his best friend or you chop his head off. That was my original point with the original post. Its obviously a bug, since the guy you confront at the end is sitting without a head in the link i provided and if i was to do the main quest line, i'd have no one to confront unless he can stitch his head back on.

I agree that Caesar being alive has little to do with the story but I disagree with the the above line.

I forgot who said it, but I agree with what a npc said.

That Caesar's Legion are gathered around his personality and not his ideals. As soon as he is dead, human nature will take its course. Greed, Ambition, etc. will tear it down in decades.

But I think that is out of the scope of Fallout New Vegas.

Incorrect. The final confrontation is with Lagate, his right hand. Caesar is unnecessary for this. There's even a scripted way to kill Caesar early, the game continues on. The Legion lives even should Caesar not.

Except you confront the Legate Lanius, and not Caesar.

Speaking of which, in the interests of spoilers, anyone know how to get into Lanius' tent? It's got an interior and actor references in GECK but I couldn't dig out what was needed. Ingame it just says "opens from the inside" which is silly, it's a tent!

It ws Marcus. He also said it could take decades for the legion to decline.
