My Kitten.

Post » Sat May 11, 2013 2:55 pm

4 weeks ago my cat had 4 kittens which are all now little menaces around the house which I find hilarious as they're funny kittens. Anyway, 3 days ago I came home from school to find one of them specifically taking interest in me, running to me every time it sees me and meowing until I pick it up. The other 3 love a stroke but aren't like this one, I named him Del after Del boy from Only Fools and Horses.

Does anybody have any idea in which this kitten would take a specific liking to me and nobody else in my house? It's cute and all but it's strange how all of a sudden it started loving me and always wanting me to play with him and stroke him.

Yes, I know I haven't a clue on why any of you would know the answer, I'm just curious.

Do you show him affection?

Do you smell like his mother?

Do you feed him extra?

Do you call him any other name?

Awwwwww.....uh I mean steak! And fire! And man stuff! but kittens are cute, and also they attach to things quite easily, my German Shepard became my kittens adopted father pretty much.

You are making a mistake by assuming a kitten needs any reason to do anything.

My cat's been sleeping in a dirt-filled flower box on our front porch at night. The same box he used to poop in all the time. I no longer question his actions.

I have no idea. I haven't had cats long enough at any point in my life to understand them fully. I just know they love having their stomachs rubbed.

We have two Siamese kittens that turn 11 months old tomorrow. We got them when they were 8 weeks (it was funny...we're not supposed to have pets in our building and the owner of the parents brought them to our condo to meet them, so it was a lot like a drug deal :P). Anyway, one of them became obsessed with me while the other bonded more closely to my wife. We didn't do anything in particular to make it happen...they just chose who they chose. I wouldn't read too much into it. He just likes you. They're individuals, after all.

Funny, that was always out of bounds with my cat. It was a guaranteed way to get a serious clawing.

She was a very sweet cat otherwise.

my cat claws at me in a playful manner when I scratch her belly, so maybe it depends?

Dunno, maybe it was because she was a black cat - according to my vet black cats tend to be more temperamental. Which seems to be the case with all the black cats I've known, thinking about it.

There may be a reason or not, mistake here is that he thinks all kittens and cats are the same, and that one cat acts the same all the time. Some cats are cuddly, some hate touching and will scratch the living crap out of you if you cuddle them over 3 seconds. My neighbour's cat loves cuddling and follows me around like I gave birth to it- I don't feed it nor do I probably smell like anything it likes. My cat, if I cuddle it for longer than 3 seconds gives me that "what the hell man?" look and casually shifts away from me. Last week she had a weird phase in which she'd rub her head in my legs and was all snuggly and was sitting in my lap all the time, it was weird. This ended yesterday when I randomly tried to scratch her head and got a pretty deep cut on my hand acompanied by some very angry glaring.

My point is: the only certain thing about cats is that they are completely unpredictable or as Mr. Coverdale says in one of his songs

"Like a cat on the prowl,

You come when you want

And not when I call"

My sister's cats used to follow me around and rub themselves on me even though I showed absolutely no affection to them (I don't like cats--I'm a dog and reptile person). I mean, I wasn't a dike to the cats, but I just didn't run up to them and pet them or hold them or anything. This one especially took interest in me and spent an entire week just laying on my bed. From there, whenever we'd move (it was a lot of times), she'd find my bed very quickly and do the same thing.

I heard that if it's in a cat's nature to dislike affection and be aloof, they will gravitate towards the person giving them that, so I was adored by the cats since I left them alone.

Not all cats like their belly rubbed, I've been scratched pretty badly but some that didn't like it. However I just love it when a cat lures you in to its belly trap. First it'll show off it's belly and looks at wanting you to rub it but as soon as you do it wraps itself around your arm and painful play ensues :D.

I wish my cat acted like she did when she was a kitten. She used to love being held. Now every time she comes by me, https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/946641_10151477244552669_1814414410_n.jpg

Indeed that's what my cat does. He'll look at you while lying on his back then as soon as you put your hand close, all 4 legs wrap around your wrist and pulls your arm down to the waiting maw.
