...Does anyone else share this sentiment...with Klimmek?
Personally, I don't trust him.
There's something rather not-quite-right about Klimmek.
Think about the clues:
- He's never seen the Greybeards
- But he knows they're peaceful
- Yet Klimmek fears them greatly
- Asked why he makes deliveries he says,
'Let's just say we have an arrangement...'- The trek is dangerous
- He still agrees to make the trip
- Why? Think about it...
They're holding something over his head
The Greybeards are obviously using Klimmek. He has a shady past, they know about it, but will remain silent if he brings their supplies. This allows them to have no contact with the outside world. This is what they want. They're blackmailing Klimmek, pure and simple. Not wanting his previous deeds exposed, whatever they may be, Klimmek agrees to the deal and treks the steps for years on end. He is now older and not as physically able to make the climb.
Yet, so fearful of the Greybeards exposing his secret, Klimmek is willing to hand over crucial supplies to a total stranger? Seriously?
It just doesn't pass muster. Klimmek has a shady past. And it's apparently
so shady that he'd risk weekly death, for years on end, rather than have it exposed.
^ THIS ^ is the Klimmek you wish to help and protect?? Have you really thought this through?
To each their own, I suppose. I prefer to ease his burdened conscience by planting my war axe in his shifty old forehead.
Good riddance.
