Crossbow shooting, and many many other animations makes NPCs float through the air with all limbs out -.-

Anyone know what mods may be causing it? I dread the thought of having to disable and reenable all my mods one by one so was hoping someone may have had trouble with this before.

If you have any mods that effect animations I'd try those first. Besides that, you may be out of luck on trying to figure it out. But typically if something is messed up, it's due to a relating mod. So I'd discount added weapons, spells, and textures for now and start with any animation alterations and any mods that effect characters themselves or scripts.

Rather than switching systems, it'd be much easier to simply disable all mods which I know you don't want to do. But at least it'd be cheaper, free in fact.
