Lack of Marriageable People

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 10:33 pm

I was looking on uesp for a list of people to marry and this is the whole list: http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Marriage

There are very few people to marry, also I found it strange that there are more men than women.

Do you think there are enough people or do you think there should be more.

My second character got married. I am now of the opinion that there's too many. As in any is too many.

My love my love my love my love my love my love my love my love. Brelyna, you're a Dunmer. You should not be acting like a schoolgirl every time I walk into a room.

28 females to choose from and 32 males
That seems plenty of choice to me (since so far as I know polygamy isn't possible )
Its annoying there are no eligible Bosmer or Khajiit. I'd like to see Bethesda rectify that

If they had few, they would have more personality and we would care more for them, but our options would be limited.

If they had an average number (Which they have), they would be more bland but we would have more options and we still would care (To a Forum's degree) about them and their pseudo-personality (Lydia is so self-miserable in her Housecarl role / Aela is a hot werehuntress)

If they had a lot, they would be bland and no one would care about them because you simple could marry everyone so who cares.

Compared to other games, there's a regular overabundance of romanceable NPCs. The most I've ever seen outside of the Sims, in fact.

I'm quite happy with the number of marriagable NPCs, but I wish there was a bit more racial variety. The fact that there aren't any Bosmer or Khajiit options is pretty silly, seeing as how there are overly many Nords. We couldn't have taken out a couple of those Nords for two races that aren't represented, whatsoever?

Yeah, adding those two races would be good. It's a little strange that they weren't added in the first place.

If you are on PC you can use the console to force marriagibility for many NPCs. Read the spoiler in this post:

Marriage is pointless. Can't marry Grelod, don't want anybody.

What are you going to do, marry a traveling merchant? Maybe Ma'iq?

There's no marriable Khajiit because you can count the total Khajiit without taking off your shoes.

I'm just upset I can't marry the bard in Dawnstar, she keeps giving me the "eyes".

Maybe Khajiits normally do not practice marriage. and its more the kinda thing those solarians do in mass effect, where the only time they interact is to procreate and then its splitsville.

Mai'q would be cool... But no... Maybe that Khajiit heavy-armor companion and then the other mercenary (female) in the other caravan.

Mai'q would make an excellent husband.

Easy solution? If they can shoe-horn in two Argonian spouses (living in the bitter cold of Windhelm, no less), they could have shoe-horned in a Khajiit or two. I realize it sounds petty, but it's just a suggestion I would make for Bethesda. If I were asked. Which I wasn't. =) There's really no excuse for the lack of wood elves or Redguards, however. I believe there's only one Redguard, a woman. There are easily more Redguard NPCs than Argonians.

There happens to be more Khajiit NPCs than Argonian NPCs in the game. So why not?

Some like taking friends on adventures. M'aiq thinks being alone is better. Less arguing about splitting treasure.

The dialogue and depth with spouses is almost non existent with the current number, if they were to add more then it will be non existent, I'd rather have two potential spouse with depth than a 100 without.

Yeah? The more you know.

I guess it mostly has to do with the Khajiit community's transient nature. There aren't too many (if any) "settled" Khajiits that I've met besides J'zargo, from the College.

Salarians are amphibians... they um... fertilise the eggs externally. But it does mean that reproduction basically comes down to assigning a male the right to fertilise a number of eggs, so they have a sort've social contract

Best not imagine what that looks like; khajiit on the other hand definatly take "mates", there's a couple of khajiit in Oblivion with "mates" which are basically married partners. The real reason is undoubtedly voice acting. They decided to save on voice acting time by not having the khajiit be marriable. Most other races share voice-overs, so you get better bang-per-buck, whereas khajiit are a rare, itinerant race with a unique speech style
