Lakeview Manor crashing on entrance?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:40 am

So, I'm sure this has already been addressed before, but I couldn't find it on any pages of topics I sifted through. Sorry if this is a repeated post. I built Lakeview Manor and almost completely furnished it with just materials I harvested, then towards the end the entryway got a little buggy. I had been using a chest in there to store my stuff, but the game would freeze anytime I used it after about 6 seconds. Well I eventually got my items and out of the side door fast enough so I didn't lose my items. Now it seems that anytime I enter the front door, go into/near the entryway, or even just being in my house that the game will freeze up without fail. is there any fixes or anything that anybody knows of? I know I should have saved before I made it, but I didn't expect this to happen... I play on X-box 360 by the way.

Not having a save before you built the house was a mistake. The workbenches are only a temporary thing, not something that should be left in the house after you finish furnishing, especially not Lakeview. Removing all workbecnhes could solve the problem.

The other glitch was with the Greenhouse wing, but if you have that one your only option would be to delete Hearthfire, lose everything in the house and all the materials you put into building it and start again. There are plenty of threads on the subject, most you would find in the support sections for Hearthfire.

There are several problems that can arise depending on how you built the house, these could also contribute to problems later, you can only get rid of them by going back to a previous save and rebuilding the house again. Deleting the DLC and saving so you can start again is not only going to lose things, but could also introduce more glitches later. But if you have no other options, that is all that is left if you want that character to have Lakeview Manor.

If I delete hearthfire and save, will it screw it up on my other characters too? like will they lose the homes and items?

remove the work bench in the entryway and any others you have and see if that solves it.

No, not unless you play the other characters before you get the DLC installed again, you only need to clear that one character so only save on that one after you have deleted the DLC, then redownload the DLC and start again. The other characters would be fine.

But if you still have any workbenches in the house, I would try getting rid of them first. If you have the greenhouse, do not build it at that location again, the other two locations seem to have no trouble with the greenhouse.

I removed the workbenches and it worked great. Thank you for all the help! I don't know if I finished every single thing inside the house though, would it be safe to still put one workbench up as needed?

I do have a greenhouse by the way, but everything is fine now. I was worried I'd have to start all over again lol this is a real specific character. Thank you again for the help.

It should be fine to work on furnishing one room at a time, just put the workbench you need in, although the Main Hall has three.

You should try to get Lakeview Manor furnished before putting too much stuff in there if you have already experienced freezing. For a lot of us it was fine, no problem work benches all over the place and bees buzzing up a storm, but for some it seems there was a glitch that froze the game. None of the other houses should have that problem.

My other houses are just gonna be the small one room shacks. This is a hunter character but I needed a good full-size house for trophies and such. Thank you for all of the advice.
