Laptop overheating problem

Heya guys! I've been a member of these boards for a long time now but even after all those years I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this question but anyways here it goes;

First of all, I am no techie when it comes to pc's so therefore I was hoping someone on these boards could help me out and share some of their wisdom with me ;)!

After my last semester at school there was hardly any space left on my laptop which I bought approx 2 years ago. Since I didn't wanted to go through the hassle of deleting everything manually I decided to go for a clean install and formatted my pc. I re-installed windows 7 and basically from there the horror began; I manually installed some of the drivers back on my computer but ever since I re-installed windows my laptop seems to be overheating like it has done never before?! It can't be a problem with the fan which works fine it's just that it makes this terrible sound like it's going to take off to outer space, and it's hotter than ever before. The other day I touched the bottom of my laptop and I could just feel it burn.... Before re-installing windows 7 I could run Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere at the same time without any problems. Now it overheats when I'm using photoshop only. Just now I was making something really simple in 3d Max and my computer started overheating again?

It must have something to do with windows 7 settings or missing drivers but I'm really not sure how to fix this so I was hoping someone on these boards could help me out.

That's my ASUS N71JV laptop which I'm running on a 64 bit windows 7 version home premium edition. You can download most of the drivers on that website but I have no idea which ones I have to use in order to fix this problem. I did not install all the drivers since I want my laptop to be as clean as possible. I'm a little bit worried since I don't have any money to buy a new laptop if this one burns to death....so any advice would be nice!

Just install all the latest drivers. Drivers just allow the OS to communicate with the hardware, it's not going to muck with anything

Yeah I thought I did that but I feel like I'm missing something...the sound drivers should be okay. The graphics card drivers should be okay since Skyrim was working....so I feel like I'm missing out on something someone needs to explain this to me in baby talk....since I absolutely have no understanding of computers. I mean I know how to use one and fix basic things but not something like this, or when it comes to what drivers to install and what not...
