Laser Sight issues

Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 7:17 am

Well, im sure anyone unlocked that attachment knows that laser sight actually helps more to your enemies than yourself. It shows exactly where you are to everyone in quite large range. I believe they should change it the way that only dot is visible to everyone not the line. Since its the only thing the player really cares about and lets be honest, if you say its more realistic that way i must remind you laser sight is only viable in irl situations that you know you dont have the element of surprise. This whole game is based on cloak ambushes. Im vocal about this because with changes to ext. mag, and this we dont have many choises on attachments.

It is very useful but it should be cloaked ALL THE TIME. When you ledgegrab, the beam uncloaks and it only cloaks again if you go out of and into cloak. Doesn't make sense so I figure it's just a bug?

The laser sight (ESPECIALLY) when mixed with Point Fire Enhance basically turns any gun (esp Scarab) into an unstoppable bullet hose, letting you dominate close-medium range combat.

If you have an idea of what's going on around you (IE aren't a noob), then the laser also provides a lot of free kills of cloaked people who think it's fun to come and kill you.

my point was its drawback outweighs the benefits. Everybody is gonna see where you are when you'r shooting and they will see you even when you camp to regen energy. Being invisible to enemy is far better than anything else, if they dont see you, you get to choose the encounter with careful play.

I welcome people seeing my laser sight and coming to get me, because I shall still get them first.

dude, your argument itself is irrelevant with topic, if you say you can get them that means you make it, not the laser sight. All it does is to show where you are to enemy. Dont think the discussion is not between people its about the laser sight. Dont be subjective be objective.

So your issue is that it shouldn't be so visible when you're uncloaked? Uhhhh... It reduces recoil in sights and when firing from the hip ENORMOUSLY. Its benefits totally outweigh the increased visibility. You can always just switch to your sidearm if you need to move undetected.

My only real qualm with it is that it's bugged in cloak.

it only effects hipfire, and to my knowledge hipfire's only effective in very short range, at least its where surpasses aiming. And for that small benefit should i alert everyone in the vicinity where i am? As i already mentioned you will be visible while regenning energy. And sidearms, am i supposed to fight with that when i want to be stealthy? or just switch to main in middle of combat?

This works as long as they don't get behind you. Some players are like the cats when they see a laser on the ground, " omg look its a laser(red dot) lets follow the red line *boom* dead"

Agree with Fistan laser sights are useless when someone isn't cloaked, NEVER been killed by a laser sight dude, but ive killed heaps of them, free kills pretty much :)

Actually i think laser sight reduces ur recoil abit, its what i sense.. but i'm not sure if its true...

most people who use rifles and smgs with laser sight will know its much easier to get headshots even from far range...
i used it + point fire enhance to help with my scar/scarab/feline headshots assessments

if the accuracy bonus is true for laser sight, then its only fair that they make the visible since its gonna be very deadly in the hands of an expert user

As mentioned before in this thread, it really does have a noticeable benefit in ADS (tagging an enemy in the towers @ Wall Street and killing them with ease from the skybridge with a SCARAB for example).

I know it sounds silly to run around with sidearms just to go around undetected, but it's (for me at least) temporary until Crytek makes the Laser Sight invisible in cloak, 100% of the time.

Well, good for you if it works for you. I know i die whole alot more whenever i try to use laser sight. I always get shoot at from distance or from behind. I gotta say i didnt use it enough, but from my pov, i can do the same thing with just aim enhance, with ++ you can even strafe at normal speed minus the drawbacks.

And btw can you tell me where did you see that it increase aim accuracy, or its just to your experience. Ive only looked at denKirson's site and i havent used it enough to make a comment on that.

Aim Enhance 3 + Armor Enhance 3 + Laser Sight => Delicious armoured aim while strafing!

Stealths will always get the jump on you and good ones will kill you before you can return fire.(and be mindful they can switch to armor just as well they just also know where you are). And I do doubt crytek designed armor mode to be something to travel, if it's true its just underpowered. You cant balance it with stealth, will be horribly broken if you do(because balance will shift drastically with map design). I guess they did want us to change position/ambush/flank(basically out of combat movements) with stealth mode, switch to armor mode when combat starts. And btw you havent answered my question yet:)

Fistan, its more of experience and my own feel, i cant confirm it cos i didnt do any real testing or comparison (was hoping the admins can clear that up for us)... i remember i had a hard time finishing those 500 headshots for scar and scarab, the bullets are so powerful that they usually kill from the body shots... even with the old point enhance.... it didnt help much cos when you use the scope.. even the 4x... enemies move and jump around alot...the bullets are bound to hit else where...

what i found was that i completed the headshots much easier with the laser sight... although i had to be constantly on the move to avoid being traced. I tested it by just burst firing with scar and scarab and found that the laser didnt bounce much and remained pretty much near the head.
It helped me more for scarab though.

Honestly, i havent tried laser sight ever since i completed these assessments, only in assault modes.
But i have to agree with you, Laser Sight, like Radar Jammer... seems to tell enemies where you are.... and whether the benefit outweighs the cons... i think thats up to personal preference...

My preference however, is not using laser sight....but i have to add that it helped me ALOT during the headshot assessments with those rifles, more than point fire enhance did.

This. At first I thought it's just because you are also aiming down the normal sights, but when I tried the normal sights, the difference was very noticeable...

I never use scopes as you say, it really f**k things up in short range especially with low sensitivity and for long ranges i never needed(i aint gonna try to snipe a guy with assault rifle, it just doesnt worth it unless the guy is an idiot and stand around looking, at that case he'll die nonetheless) Ironsights always been my friend.

Well, if it works great then. But for me that damned red line makes it nonviable. People do spawn fast enough and close enough. If i do declare my position i'm gonna die after 2-3 kills in a heated area since i wont even find time to regen energy/reload.
