Last call on armours

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 7:22 pm

I am quite disappointed from the merging of the armours into one single blob and the unability to go around barechested or with pieces of armours like you could do in Morrowind , anyonelse is too ?

Anyway does soeone knows if it would be eventually possible to use a sort of smithing ability to forge your own armours the way you like ? like a puldron of a type or another or whatever?

I'm role-playing an escaped Argonian slave who is out for vengeance after learning he has the soul of a dragon. So as long as I have a sword, shield and shackles I'm good.

If you play PC, mods. If you play console, then I'm sure you will get used to it after a littel bit.

They are not one piece...

You are thinking of greaves+curiass getting merged

They are merged , from the original Morrowind they went merging more and more pieces into single stuff like Fallout , one single suit ....

it comprises chest , shoulder left and right , greaves and pants ... what's left is gloves , boots and helmet wich are not part of armour ...

We have every indication that there are more armor variations than ever before so I'm perfectly fine with it.

Todd said they did that so you can put more npcs on the screen, I think it's actually good.

that to me makes not much sense ... I guess is something to tell ppl that do not know much of the stuff hey its like that dont cry couse you get this other candy ... and anyway I didn't see so much more people in the screenshots compared to other Bethesda games ... the cities and towns looked pretty deserted as usual to me ...

It's not like it'll effect modding much. You can (probably) just split everything back up with some modeling and abuse of the biped object slot system.

I think uts a good thing to be honest they did it to fit more npcs on screen and hey i never cared to mix n match anyway. Unless it was a few sweet items that had really nice enchantments on them

Okay im gonna butt in and ask a question of my own:

Regarding customization, how much will we be able to do it? I mena, sure we could, and can forge a iron armor, or glass cuirass and the like, but can we MOULD them?

Choosing a different design, maybe even different colors? Maybe Alchemy could produce some dye..

Ho that would be awesome. I would even let the little physics problems pass.

Please tell me how gloves, boots and helmets are NOT part of armor. If it adds protection, it's armor.

The armor system is very similar to Oblivion’s. The main difference is that the upper and lower body armors, the cuirass and greaves, have been combined into one piece. This helps create armor styles that have the look we needed for Skyrim. In most of the Nordic designs we created, the upper armor would completely cover the lower armor, making it unnecessary. We get much better visual results combining those pieces, and it renders a lot faster too, so we can put more people on screen, so that was an easy tradeoff for us. We can also make a lot more armors now, so the number and variation types are more than we’ve ever had.

It's been confirmed that there are armor sets without tops. That's probably all your going to get without mods.
