"Lazy" Skyrim: Tiles Not Loading in Bleak Falls Temp

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 10:27 am

I'm playing Skyrim and I have noticed that, in some cases, tiles don't seem to load properly...

It happened first in Bleak Falls Temple...at the entrance...just down the initial tunnel:

There were tiles as "floating islands" in a weird sky...

...if I crossed the void, I ended up at the beginning of Bleak Falls Temple entrance room.

I have tried to go out and come back and the tiles were loaded properly this time.

I have played Bleak Falls Temple with great satisfation and no CTD...I have saved a lot (for safety), but I was very happy...

...I entered Bleak Falls Santum and everything was fine...

...until the end:

The exit tunnel suffered of the same "floating island" issue I have previously experienced.

...I've to jump back and I lost my follower...so I have reloaded the game (same issue) and tried to run back to the entrance...

...then a CTD when I tried to leave (however, was a lot I didn't experience CTD...probably was a random CTD!)...

However I am wondering:

Why this weird rendering issue?

Because the issue is that obviously the tile isn't loaded and the fact that reloading the area solved the issue (at least once) mean that's not a mod conflict (since I haven't touched the load order or the mod loaded, a mod conflict would be permanent...not have an erratic behaviour)...

...so...why Skyrim get lazy with tiles? Any solution apart from reloading the area?

Thanks,
Jashkar

P.S.: This problem, I've read, is also called "disappearing scenery" and seems to be an issue on PS3...in fact the stairs of Bleak Falls Barrow have been referenced somewhere, but I am experiencing this issue on the pc...anyone knows why this happens??

Sorry. I have noticed just now:

I am on the wrong forum...please, could any moderator see this thread move it to pc troubleshooting?

Thanks,

I had this problem, essentially Skyrim can only generate so much terrain. Having too many mods that contain NEW areas and terrain can cause the game to not load other areas properly resulting in missing floors, walls and even CTDs.

To fix this, disable some mods that add new locations into the game via the Data Files option on the Skyrim launcher. These include mods such as Moonpath to Elsywer which uses a lot of the generated terrain, as such I do not recommend activating more than two quest mods at once to prevent terrain vanishing or crashes that are not caused by a conflict.

The thing is...I have just one mod containing a new area and it's quite small...

However reloading did the trick...

Thanks anyway,

Isn't this associated with mods that have been modified/created with TESVSnip?

Nah...this weirdness seems to disappear when reloading the area and/or reloading a save, so it's probably a Skyrim issue...
