Leaving "Dead City"

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 5:05 pm

I am on the 360, and I have completed the hospital run (gotten the defibrillator upgrade) and made it downstairs, outside and down to the end of the tunnel. However, once there, I cannot exit. I move all the way to the door, but I don't get the "Press A to enter the Wasteland" icon over the door. I have seen some postings about others having the same issue in other forums - but no answers yet. Thought I'd try here on the 'official' forums.

I have the entire game (all 3 discs) installed on the HDD. The only thing that has happened since installing them is Microsoft's XBox Live update earlier today. Could that have anything to do with it?

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Stand in front of the door aiming at the wheel and then move slowly backwards until the symbol to exit to wastelands appears. It worked with me.
Seems like the trigger point for exiting is slightly to far away from the door.

Interesting theory, but I had no luck with this suggestion. I backed up, went forward, zig-zag - all at a super-slow pace looking for a spot where the trigger would be. I pointed at all parts of the door too. Thanks, but that did not work for me.

Hey, id or Bethesda - any thoughts? I'd really like to continue playing this game sometime soon.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you've got some other problem. :whistling:
Btw.: I played Dead City again and this time i had to aim slightly higher than the wheel to open the door.

Stupid question:
Is it possible that you've got the wrong door? There are several doors in that map that look similar.
I left the map through the exact same door at which i entered.

I was sometimes slightly confused with all that rubble and trash lying around everywhere. Took some time to find the right way compared to the other maps.

I watched a walkthrough online to ensure I was at the correct door. In the walkthrough video, they guy walked to the same door I am at - at the end of the long corridor/tunnel and opened it. I am at the right door.

Nacho,

I am having the EXACT same issue...very frustrating to say the least. I've tried just about everything. I still can't leave the city. Any luck on resolving this issue?

Nope. If there is not a patch or fix for this by the time Skyrim comes out, I am selling it. I was SOOO pumped for Rage - but this glitch has all but killed it. On almost a same level, I know that Bethesda and id people lurk here - yet, no official comment on this. I'd take a "we know, we are working on it." *sigh*

Should I find out a work-around which does not include 'start the game over' - then, I'll post it up here.

One last thing comes to my mind:

Have you killed ALL enemies in that map?
The game obviously checks if there are enemies left as it changes the music when in battle or not. Might be that you have to kill everything's around before the game let's you advance.
There are several situations in other maps where doors or path's will only open up after you killed certain or all enemies.

Well, I am already locked into the MRI room and have gotten the defibrillator. If there are bad-guys alive on the other side of the door i can no longer open (because it closed automatically) then... i don't know. I'll see if i have a save game BEFORE I went into the MRI room. I'll travel back and ensure all are dead. Will post my findings here.

Alright, Nacho. I finally got out of the dead city and got the sewer door to work. I had to revert back to a previous save and play the whole mission through again from the start. 2nd time through, the final door back to the wasteland worked fine. It was kind of a pain because of the time svck, but a very fun mission so not too bad all things considered, I guess. I was obviously able to complete the mission much quicker the 2nd time around, as well. Good luck!

I tried. Unfortunately, I have no saves from before entering the Dead City. This means I'd need to start the game over - but with BATMAN coming out tonight, I am over RAGE. I have now uninstalled the game and will be selling it. This game is a 70% fail for me anyways. I had high hopes, but I need to learn that if the game is not 100% Bethesda - then, it might likely be crap. Regardless, same happened for me and BRINK - hey, a Bethesda game - but no. Disappointing. Oh, and note to the 'support' gal who answered my email - thanks, but you failed too.

Sorry, id - you failed. No actual multiplayer, limited upgrades - really disappointing. However, I do give massive props to the graphics - very nice to play and look at.

Oh well.... massive fingers crossed for SKYRIM (100% Bethesda).
