"Legacy" stick layout option

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 1:11 am

In many interviews and previews about the game the developers hyped "completely mappable controls" yet the stick layout that I use, which is referred to as "Legacy" in CoD/Gears/Halo is absent.

(Legacy maps Move Forward/Back and Look Left/Right to the Left stick and Strafe Left/Right and look up/down to the Right stick)

Is it possible that support for this could be added in an update? and is there a reason why wasn't it included in the first place?

I'm seconding this, would love to see this patched in as well.

Brink is sitting on my shelf, completely un-played for this very reason. Don't buy a lot of games, but when I do I buy pretty much every DLC that goes with it. I play FPS 99% exclusively, but I bought Halo Wars because I wanted to support the title. I purchased the bloody novels and Movie. SplashDamage/Bethesda you got me for $60 since I was too excited about this game and didn't do my due diligence about it's actual control options, that's on me. If you want any more money from me please add Legacy Controls. Thank you.

Legacy Controls, Southpaw & Southpaw Legacy should all be mandatory for every FPS title. Games should not pass First Party without these prerequisites. Considering the amount of time it actually takes to remap thumb-stick controls during development, there's no reason for Dev's to not allow the users the options. The aforementioned control stick layouts are and have been the standard alternates for shooters for the past 15+ years. As a Legacy player it pains me to see a default only control scheme in a game. Not only because I know it's a matter of an afternoon (at most) for button remapping, another half day to a day for Graphic Art, but because playing default actually makes me dizzy and physically nauseous to try and play default.

We (non default players) may be the minority but we exist and we support the industry just like anyone else.

I noticed that there is a "Swap look/move sticks" option in the controls. Maybe try that ?
