Legate Rikke has no "Reporting for Duty" Topic

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 3:21 pm

I finished taking the Rift for the legion and Tullius told me to go to the legion camp in Winterhold hold, but Legate Rikke has no topic to report for duty, so I cannot rescue prisoners at Fort Kastav and continue the legion quests.

CanI fix this somehow? Does anyone know what causes this so I may avoid it in the future (if it was caused by something I did anyway)?

Try a search, several workarounds have been posted for this...In fact I posted one a few days ago, but I don't remember if it was this forum or the PS3 forum.

I have tried a number of things, like reloading saves and redoing the previous legion quest and even leading a dragon over to attack the camp, but nothing has worked. It looks like this is a big problem on the PS3, but I have an Xbox, so why I am I getting it!? The only thing to do is to keep trying these work arounds until I give up or one works, I guess.

Have you tried these? You may have to repeat several times.

At various points throughout the questline, Legate Rikke may not give you the next mission. One way to fix this is to ask General Tullius "How goes the war?" until the phrase is no longer white, or a 'new' dialogue option. He will give you some information about every battle you've won, initiating the 'Reporting for duty' prompt with Legate Rikke.
  • 360: Talk to Legate Rikke using one of the other dialogue options and it should appear within a few tries. If you still cannot get it, then attack until she falls to her knees. This should make the dialogue appear. However, if you do this, you will need to yield to her or pay a bounty in order to reduce her hostility.
  • Using the cooking pot in the middle of any of the camps seems to somehow fix the dialogue.

I had the same problem except this was on the stormcloak's side (the name of the guy eludes me right now) anyway the option to say "reporting for duty" never showed up but fast traveling away to another location then back seemed to fix the problem for me every single time. Worth a try if you have not tried this yet and the above poster's quoted workaround does not work.

Good luck mate.

I was just about to post the same topic. This seems like a big one, in the search it came up loads of times.

In my game it's during the "reunification of Skyrim" ongoing quest. I'd done the first part, which was to deliver the false orders to the bloke in Dawnstar, but when I go back to the camp to get more orders, she doesn't say anything.

It feels like I've tried everything- the other dialogue options, beating her up, fus ro dah-ing her and even a dragon landed in the camp and slaughtered nearly everyone. None of it worked. I went back to my house in Whiterun and waited 3 in-game days before going back to see if the area would reset, but that didn't work either.

The cooking pot is about the only thing I haven't tried, but I will. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to do. This has brought this character to a standstill, since I roleplay and have already finished the MQ and Companions with him.

I'd seen only one minor bug in the game up until now and was quite impressed, but this is a really big one and I'm disappointed. All patched up in case anyone was wondering.
