Legion Assassins

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 4:02 am

I have ecountered the Legion assassins only once in over 100 hours of gameplay. Is this normal? I was expecting something similar to Talon Company and Enclave. I was hated by the Legion until I saved Kimball and now they are neutral even though I can no longer go back to Caesar since all the Legion quests have failed.

I think they only appear once, this might be a bug though.

If they were the same ones that I ran across... Did they smoke you too?

I found mine outside of the scrapyard north of Novac which is pretty early in the game, and I was only the first rank of dislike with the Legion (name escapes me, but its the one before vilified)

Yes, I was unprepared with Lucky holstered when I fast traveled to the gas station north of Novac. I have not seen them since though. I have no idea how I got back to neutral so I plan on making a trip to Cottonwood Cove with Boon and rectify that situation.

If I PO the legion early they allways appear just up the road towards Novac close to the slave camp for me, as do a band of merchants and often NCR troopers.
The first time they killed me quick, but if you know they're coming just drug up pull up a AP high damage gun and lead them towards the mercs if needed.

Only once per character, I think. I've had two characters oppose the Legion and the Assassin's have only come after me twice (one for each).

First time? They. Kicked. My. Ass.

Second time? I was smart. And I still walked away limping.

Once is enough.

I'm going to say that they came after me about 3 times in my first full play. I think it's a lack of random encounter locations (the spawns and respawn is just a bit too fixed for my tastes).

I'm still playing through with my first character, and have only run into them once even though I was vilified until recently. I think they ambushed me after I fast-traveled to Jean's Sky Diving. It was early in the game and they were packing automatic firearms, which I had rarely seen up to that point. Nevertheless, I survived the encounter with a few well placed headshots and lots of running, ducking and healing. It's a good thing I had a half-dozen stimpacks with me, and one of the rare occasions I've needed to spam stimpacks.

Looks like you only get these guys only once in a playthrough. Then again, since these guys drop ~4,000 caps in loot, getting spamed with these teams would leave allot of high level characters stupid rich.

...or maybe it was the team that got curb-stomped by two girls that discouraged Caesar, and his muppet, from trying again.

I have fought them 3 times on my current toon, every time at Outpost 188, at night. They haven't killed me yet, the first time was pretty tight tho.

I got a few around near Gypsum Trainyard, if that's the right name. That was handy, although with what I lured back to them they won. Oh well, while they were busy I took off in another direction :)

They usually show up if you kill everyone in the advance camp...the one with the two Powdergangers. I was able to kite them around the shed and around the little hill behind it. If you can separate them...ie not have all three of them shooting at you, you can take them down one by one if you have a decent weapon and keep moving.

Last time I smoked the camp stealthed, and they showed up later on the road between Novac and 188. I was higher level in that game and had a riot shotgun. Not much problems that time.
