All we can do is speculate at this moment, they could be anything. Altough, for everyone looking for a timeline, I invite you to look at http://www.imperial-library.info/content/second-era

It's very likely that they are using http://www.heroengine.com/ for TESO, the same engine SWTOR uses.

Yes http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=16368 that ZOS licensed the HeroEngine back in 2007.

From that timeline:

2E 827
Talos (or Hjalti Early-Beard), later is known as Tiber Septim, the first Emperor of Septim Dynasty, is born. The location is unclear, the some records state that Alcaire in High Rock is the birth place of Tiber Septim, while A Pocket Guide to the Empire, which contains Septim's propaganda, states Atmora is the birth place of Tiber Septim.

Hm.

As some dragons were still alive in the 2nd Era, do you think there will be any in-game?

Maybe the Empire has a few Mercenary Dragons?

Maybe one as a boss or some special encounter, but certainly not as casual encounters. Now that I've looked at the timeline, my theory about the ascension of The One could not be so void after all...

I'd imagine its kind of hard for them to take dragons out of Elder Scrolls now... but then it might boil down to technical limitations.

Oh my gods it just hit me:

The Triune is still very much alive and kicking, and so is Dagoth Ur, or maybe he still sleeps as he doesnt awake till 2E 882.
Will we get to meet a younger Vivec?
:ahhh:

Have a very close look at http://media1.gameinformer.com/images/hubs/elderscrolls/Elder-Scrolls-MMO_hub.jpg in Game Informer Hub. There is a faded picture of a town in the center. The door is reminiscent of Ayleid architecture. Moreover, one of the three creatures in the golden ring seems to be some hawk, and birds are very present in Ayleid imagery. Would it be possible that some of the last of them would be involved?

OK, henceforth I'm calling you "Eagle Eyes"

Great find, though.

There probally would have been a few surviving Alyeid Towns. In the Second era.

Judging by the trees and architecture, I'd say that is a Valenwood town near the border of Elsweyr.

The map is interesting to me mainly because it is identical to what we see in the 3rd era. I was hoping/thinking that they'd mix things up, since it is the Interegnum. Makes me wonder about the three factions listed, since they're not on the map.

Having different starting areas for different races sounds likely and neat.
I hope that map is just one of those cases of releasing the most familiar version to drive up interest. Ideally there will be a cool new map eventually. Then again, the political map changed dramatically for Skyrim, and we never got a new official map. In fact, has there been a map of Tamriel officially included with a game since Redguard? To be honest, those of us who play TES exclusively for the cartography are getting pretty close to bailing.

Hey! Maybe we'll see Kothringi ! I've always wanted to learn more about them, and the other non-reptilian tribes of Argonia.

(And if most of them aren't naked, I'll consider it a lore-breaker, no matter the targetted audience of the game)

I just realized - Cyrodill could be a jungle in this game as it was originally described in lore!
Talos didn't turn Cyrodill into the California forests we saw in Oblivion until after the Dominion was defeated. http://www.imperial-library.info/content/many-headed-talos

Apparently some scans reveal that the Argonians and Dunmer are together in one of the groups.

... so much for lore.
