Lets be honest - this is gonna be a bugfest

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 10:42 pm

The fact almost every player owned house has had its issues at some point or another (and some remain), i won't hold out much hope this is going to be different. In fact, this is on a grander scale, so things are going to get messy.

Yeah, I do expect lots of bugs. All the mannequins and display cases and weapon racks, that already have problems in very specifically locked locations in the vanilla game, are now going to be placed everywhere in Hearthfire. I recommend everyone save lots of files once they start building their houses. You don't want to build the entire house only to realize it is bugged/broken.

Yeah, placed items go flying for miles and it's also very time consuming just to place an item properly.

I don't think Bethesda is that stupid, this is small DLC i am SURE that that bugs are well known and will be much as fixed as possible.

Yeah. I told myself that Hearthfire is probably going to be buggy. How buggy could a small add-on like this be? Never underestimate the power of bethesda.

Ha Ha! I remember the time I returned to my Riften home after a hard days adventuring to find that one of my mannequins had the other seemingly ''bent over'' the enchanting table, I just sort of backed out slowly like ''WTF!''.

Bethesda has been making buggy game for almost 20 years. If you've played Daggerfall, you have seen just how bad things can get in even a good game. People have been excusing the bugs for nearly 20 years it seems. I may be wrong, though. I just know that while Bethesda makes good games, they are sometimes way too ambitious. Many ambitious games are buggy or just plain odd. When Arena was made, we could have gotten something at the levels of Tail of the Sun(if you don't own that PS1 game, just look up some gameplay of it. It is odd. I love it, personally.). We were lucky to just get something that sold.

Another ambitious game I'd like to mention is Okami. It does have tons of safe moments, but really, it is ambitious.

You can't have these kinds of games without problems popping up. With Tail of the Sun, it was the game being confusing if you bought it used without a manual. With the PS1 remake of Lunar 2, it was giving Sony the middle finger for calling RPGs nerdy. With Psychonauts... Okay bad example there... Games made by the guy who made Psychonauts have some weird need to be cult classics only...

TES got the bad part of things. Bethesda was used to making smaller games when they made Arena. They somehow never got out of being used to that.

They should of beta tested this, I know it's not nearly as big as Dawnguard but with what it has it would help..

Has there been anything in this game that hasn't had bugs? This will be no different.

I am not going to store anything in my hearthfire house until all the bugs are fixed. What if stuff just disappears on us.

You haven't been playing Bethesda games that long. Not to call them stupid, and you're right. The bugs will be "much as fixed as possible". Of course, they'll be the ones determining how "possible" possible is. Then, the modding community will come in and redefine "possible".

Bring on the bugs, houses will be floating, children getting stuck in walls and your stored items strung out all over Tamriel.

kinda like every piece of content Bethesda has ever released? Thats the problem with games on this scale, when you have millions and millions of lines of code, obviously a few lines are going to conflict with each other. That is, always has and always will be a con that you must except from a TES product.

I'd like to think that Bethesda is listening to all the bug issues, but I think adding MORE content will make it worse! Although I am curious to see how this turns out

Yes it will have bugs. Heck the respawns in the base game are still broken. My plants have still yet to grow back. I will try it out and test it and report any bugs to Bethesda.

It's Bethesda - they make open world games with massive amounts of content/features, half of which do not work as intended.

If you're still here you probably shouldn't mind or be surprised by now, this is just how the games are. It's mostly due to their scope, though Arena was fairly bug free. It needed a huge number of testers to do that though, so I have no idea how many you'd need for Skyrim.

I will be making multiple test and experiments on Hearthfire. Independent variables, dependent variables, making an anolysis on what works well and what doesn't. Houses in Skyrim are cursed.

From what I understand Bethesda fixed nothing with Dawnguard according to the beta testers.
