Leveling Up & Sleeping

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 3:04 pm

Just a quick one behind the bike shed everyone:

Does anyone know if you have to sleep to level up in Skyrim? I prefered this as you could control when you could level up (unlike Fallout 3)

But now you can pick when to spend perks, which you get when you level, so no harm no foul?

Folks, you still get to choose when you level. You can even level while in battle. The game tells you when you can level, then you choose when to do it.

Now, some would say to wait until a battle when you need to recharge your Health and Mana and Endurance. The leveling works like a super potion restoring your 3 "batteries" to full charge of the new levels. In fact, Todd even said this in an interview.

But you do not Level Up automatically. You need to choose "Level Up" in the Menu Screen (The Menu that you choose between Magic, Inventory, Options and Skills).

WRONG!!!
You do not need a bed to level up, but you choose when to level up. Todd Howard himself stated that you can choose when to level up and it will act like a "super potion" that will immeadiatly fill up your health, magicka, and stamina bars.

And it does make more sense. If I learn to do something, I don't have to have a sleep first before I am able to do it. :snoring:

Then is there any reason to get a bed in the inn anymore? Or ever even sleep?

This brings other questions to attention:

(1) Will our skills stop improving until we choose to Level Up?
(2) Will we be able to "hoard" multiple level ups?
(3) Will clicking the Level up, if pt. 2 is true, level us up ALL those levels or just 1 per click?

Excellent news. Even better than the sleeping leveling system :)

You get well rested bonus from sleeping in a bed. Dont knwo what it does but in fallout 3 it made you level faster.

Perks...skill points also? I doubt it.
But...I guess it's not so horrible. I'm sure I'll be happy with the game regardless.

Really? I'm getting mixed messages here. If thats true it's not nearly as bad because i can work around that, just go to a bed, sleep, and level. I hope your right, but a lot of people are saying it's how originally took it.

I am sure you will need to heal between level ups.......

regenerating health svcks...:(
