Levelling Time

Post » Tue Jan 29, 2013 11:41 pm

Following on from the article in the pickpocketing thread, I noticed one of the comments made by Firor in particular:

Your first hours in TESO, at least, will be PvE focused before the option to transition into competitive play. "Yeah we don't know exactly when that point is," says Firor. "Right now it's on level 10, which is about 15 hours of gameplay."

I'm sure he was making a very conservative estimate and in reality people will probably level quicker than that, but that still seems like a much longer time frame than other MMO's if I can remember right? If we assume that it will undoubtedly take longer to progress through the levels the higher you get, it could make for quite a lengthy levelling period.

Heh yeah 15 hours to get to level 10 sounds a bit long. Maybe the leveling curve doesn't sharply increase, and leveling stays at a fairly even pace.

I dont mind! :D if the game is awesome I'd love to level for a long time!

and ofcourse....when I hit the level cap there'll be more of the lower levels for me to bully in cyrodiil :3

One interview said something like 150 hours worth of single player storyline, so basically you are getting 3 PvE TES games, plus a PvP TES game. It will take a long time. However going several hours without levelling does put many people off.

I would assume there is an optimum route that people will eventually learn though, one with very little exploration.

Well in previous elder scrolls games level 20 was like a soft cap, anything beyond that is just a bonus.

I've read it's suppose to take about 120 hours to hit the level cap. So sounds like the first 10 are a little faster in comparison.

Yea lol
GW2 wasn't particularly fast, but wen your 80, thats it, your done. Its not that there were no endgame, but that i find endgame stuff boring (why do dungeon when it doesn't give you better gear?) I could talk long on what i dint like in that game and compare it to what i would like in eso. suffice to say that eso is already in a better way (combat wise, questing method and cyrodiil pvp)

120H for leveling max x3 different questline? hell yea!

GW2 was way too fast. 1 week for 79 levels is ridicolously fast. also the game has a bunch of things to do.

Yeah can almost guarantee that it won't be 15 hours to lvl 10 at launch. Thats just way too long.

I'm in two minds really. I don't mind a long levelling experience for the first run through because everything is new, but it gets very tedious on the second/third character. But then the levelling of each faction should be completely different with the locked zones so it will hopefully feel different in TESO .

That sounds awesome..!
If the max level is 50, that's 75 hours plus how long you mess about. (I do it a lot).
Sweet.
