Just go out into the wilderness and cruise around.

Use Drain Life on anything that moves and you'll be maxed out in no time.

I just kill every animal or enemy i see in front of me with the Vamp lord.

And get rid of Serana there is a bug where she nerfs your drain spell ability. Unless that has been fixed.

Whatever you do don't kill the guards in Dragonbridge it breaks a quest! (vampire quest to find the moth priest). I was leveling my VL by killing guards on the outskirts of towns and killed the Dragonbridge in the process. Now I have to go back about 3-4 hours to an old save.

As far as the best way to level a VL I think I will do the civil war quest and just kill both sides next time

Yeah... until you pass the "Prophet" quest, the guards in Dragonbridge need to be off limits... lol

As for the Civil War thing... sounds like a solid plan.

I killed the Dragonbridge guards too when the Dawngaurd attacked me. Just cross the bridge and keep going till you come to a bunch of bodies around a wagon. One of the bodies has a note that tells you where to go for the Moth Priest and progresses the quest.

the fastest way i found to level vamp was after obtaining the amulet of the gargoyle, conjer up two and kill them with drain life as fast as possible. i think you only get credit for killing the additional gargoyle from the amulet, not the one you conjer

I can not tell you how much I lol'd because I was wrecking [censored] up at every forsworn camp and getting about 2-3 perks on the big ones, I got the VL perk tree to full in like...2 hours because I was also doing some other stuff.
