Lever Action Weapon Issues

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:29 pm

I have said this in a regular post before, but I wanted to make a topic to see if anyone else is experiencing this yet-another-bug. Okay well I have no idea if Rapid Reload has anything to do with it, but after reloading a lever action or something of that nature, its seems to pause for 3-5 seconds, even if you try to cancel out the reload somehow it will still pause. I love the trail carbine and brush gun but guns like that you have to keep shooting since they aren't automatic. But when your forced to wait 5 seconds to shoot again its very game breaking especially when a horde of enemies are coming at you. Another issue I've discovered is Quick Draw with one handed weapons. 90% of the time when you holster them, they fly inside your back holstered as if they were on your waist. I have tested this with Quick Draw and without. I just hope Obsidian can see this issue quickly, as it isn't on the wiki and I haven't seen it on the forums. Thank you.

It occurs because the animation assumes that you are doing a full reload - and plays for the full length of time. You'll see this most often if you are *standing* and reloading after only firing one shot.

There's a http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36317 that attempts to fix this.

The only problem I have with lever actions (and that's all I use) occurs when I franticly pump the trigger during reloads... This will cause me to not be able to fire the weapon again for a period of time.

It's an annoying bug to be sure, but it can be avoided by keeping your finger away from the trigger during reloads.

Happens with the cowboy repeater, trail carbine, and the brush gun.

It actually affects a lot of guns and is really annoying. It is pretty much any gun that reloads the bullets one at a time. So about half of regular firearms? How does that even get missed as a bug..

Never seen this one before, and in my first playthrough once I got my hands on a Brush Gun that was all I fired 90% of the time for the rest of the game.

Note: I'm not saying it doesn't happen, folks...we know how screwy some of these glitches are.

PC version here, for whatever difference that makes.

TBH, I avoid the whole ammo reload in a fight by switch equipping weapons, I can go back and forth between two guns, which reloads them, faster than the game can reload them.

The only way to avoid this [censored] glitch is to stand still while reloading.

But seriously, how did Obsidian miss this one? They had to have seen it and not cared.

Yep it is dangerous, I got wiped out a few times waiting for it to sort itself out, shame aswell I love the lever/hunting shotgun. I just stick to the riot shotgun now.

It also keeps you from bringing up the pipboy, too. It seems to be with any weapon that loads one shot at a time. I've had it happen with the hunting shotgun and .357 magnum. It's perhaps the most annoying bug I've found.

Wait does this affect those weapons for everyone? Or just everyone that has Rapid Reload and/or Quick Draw?

I do feel like it takes forever to reload, and I can't enter my pip boy during it, but I hadnt realized it was a bug. I just run until its done. :) I do have Rapid Reload. I have never used the lever-action weapons on my other character, who doesnt have rapid reload.

It affects everyone (not just those with Rapid Reload and/or Quick Draw) - but it depends on what you are doing at the time (walking or running, standing or crouching all play a part). My memory is hazy, but folks reported better luck if they were crouched and moving while reloading. Standing and reloading seemed to cause the issue more often, whether or not they were moving at the time.

Basically, you're stuck waiting for the animation file to finish playing until a full reload has been simulated. But in certain cases, if you can get a higher priority animation to play (such as crouch/walking?), you don't experience the bug.

It only happens when you run and reload. If you go third person and watch yourself reload while you run you will see the lever get stuck. It's sad they didn't notice this before the release seeing as how some of the best weapons are lever action.

If you go in the G.E.C.K. and change the reload animation from Z to A or C it fixes the problem and it doesn't look all that bad. Plus you get the bonus of a second or two quicker reload depending on the animation you choose.

This happens to me - but also when I pull out Lucky or the lever-action shotgun (not from holstered, but from unarmed state or armed with a different weapon) it only has 1 round in the clip. I have to then reload before I use it (or shoot the 1 round), which is annoying if I need to pull it out quickly, or just arm myself but forget to check the clip.

Actually the bug only occurs when you reload the last bullet while running and it happens every time you reload regardless the amount of ammo, reloading while crouch running doesn't trigger the bug though.

This applies to any weapon that reloads one bullet at a time, test it for yourself.

It can happen with any ammo count, I top off my trail carbine after firing only 1-2 shots and get stuck.

I'll bet having high AG screws up the animation, as AG speeds up reloads. People who haven't seen it, what is your AG? I have 8 AG and no quick draw or reload perks, personally.
