When I was decorating my new home, Lakeview manor, I noticed that wall sconce and other light sources didn't realy provide any lighting.
If you look at my pictures you can see that the wall sconces infront of the main door has good lighting and the wall sconces on the door to the dining area has poor lighting infact it isn't lighting up anything exept just around the flames.

Is this intentional?

Once you get all the other light sources added in, the place is very well lit.
If they made every light be average brightness, it would be overwhelming... so I think some are just for aesthetics.

It's less a matter of brightness and more the fact that they placed the pools of light in different locations than they put the light sources. It's kind of silly to see a lit torchholder in a pool of darkness while a random spot on the wall is fully lit.

I noticed my headline is missleading. I ment the oposit of what the headline says: No light from wall scones and other sources, except one.
In this case it doesn't lit up anything what so ever as you can see in the picture. The picture is just an example, the other lighting sources in the house doesn't lit up anything either.
