Lighting issues - Dark shadows in lit areas

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:48 am

After I installed Nevada Skies, I noticed an issue with lighting where a small area will be very dark and then become fully bright after walking closer. It's difficult to explain so please look at the images:

This doesn't only occur with Nevada Skies enabled, it happens with vanilla Fallout New Vegas as well, but it's less noticeable since everything is brighter. Does anyone know any settings I could change or mods I could try that might fix this issue? I appreciate any help since this problem is really distracting for me.

I have exactly the same error on my game now.
I have installed NMCs texture pack for NV, but I had these problems before too.

Maybe a gamma/brightness setting on your monitor? My monitor seems to adjust or normalize brightness settings on its own based on a gamma setting it has (three choices, gamma-0 or dark; gamma-1 or normal; gamma-2 or bright). It usually affects darkly lit landscapes (like fellout at night). A few times I've had it flicker similar to what you describe, but usually a nudge to the monitor contrast or brightness controls makes it behave.

No the textures are flickering. It′s only the ground and wall textures - everything else seems to be fine with it... :/

I've seen it happen in Fallout 3 too. Sometimes objects just don't want to get properly lighted.

I read in one mod's readme that this lighting bug exist in the vanilla game, but isn't too noticeable unless lighting mods are used, or the lighting is tweaked in some way.
