Post » Mon Jan 31, 2011 10:51 am

I am just wonder I am pre ordering F:NV from STEAM as well as getting collectors ed from EB GAMES will there be any way to link both pre order keys to my steam account's copy so I don't loose the keys as well as only install 1 copy and get both pre order packs.

Thanks

That is unless doc Mitchell doesn't actually let you choose a care package. One pre-order download could overwrite the other. We'll just have to wait to see what happens.

The short answer.... YES.

Reference: http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/07/14/cold-hard-faqs-on-fallout-new-vegas-pre-orders-collectors-edition/

If I pre-order from different locations, will I be able to access multiple pre-order digital packs within one game save?
Pre-Order items are given to customers once the game is picked up for purchase. If you have purchased the game at multiple retailers, yes, you’d be able to access any and all digital content within one game save.

Also be aware that the content will be delivered by way of a code. The code will only be redeemable once.

So, we'll only be able to get the packs on our first playthrough?

Correct. I know it's worded funny, but I didn't want to alter any of the official text. It basically means that once the codes are used on one copy of the game, they cannot be used on any other. And all pre-order content will always be available to you on that copy.

Besides, why would you buy multiple copies of the game? Just to get a few extra items, within a month after the game has been released you'll be able to download all these pre-order bonus packs for free in a single mod :D

Hell 24 hours post-release the BaseID of each item in each pack will be on the Wikia. Just use player.additem to give yourself whatever bonus pack you want.

That would be piracy.

Assuming the items are in the game already.

Yeah well then they shouldn't constrict these pre-order bonuses only to American stores. Only way for me to get one is via STEAM, but I'm not interested in the Caravan pack (I want the Classic pack), and I'm certainly not paying 50 EURO when I can get it for about 35 EURO when the game comes out.

Since EB Games and Gamestop all state that you'll get a code, I presume the content is already on the disc.

Possibly. It could be handled through Steam's native DLC service.

I was under the impression that by mod he meant the pre-order packs themselves compiled into a mod.

I've mentioned it before, but someone has already made flawless replicas of all of the armors for Fallout 3. Someone can easily do it for New Vegas as well.

What do you mean flawless replicas? You mean someone made these armors from scratch even though they're already ingame? If I recall correctly, FO3 didn't have any pre-order bonus items so why would you recreate anything that's already in the game?

Uh, the NV bonus items are quite obviously not ingame in FO3. However, the pre-order armours are just slightly modified versions of several regular FO3 armours, so someone did the same alterations.

If NV includes the regular metal, leather or armoured vault suit meshes it'd be perfectly legit to make a "Faux Preorders" mod as these are just altered versions of those meshes.

reson is that I prefer STEAM (no disks or keys to loose  ) but I want the physical things from collectors and want to link so I can store the codes somewhere safe as well as not needing to install it more then once.

cheers

We've seen both the metal and leather armors (although they're somewhat different from Fallout 3's). A vault suit is confirmed. An armored vault suit? It's likely. Pre order armors will probably be out as legal mods day one.
