Changing the resolution is not something that can be changed with a patch and is never going to be changed.

Not without frying the GPU. The reason why the res is not full 720p is because the GPU was already operating at max with all the visual stuff it had to do, so they had to cut down the amount of information the GPU had to process. If you just increase the resolution, you will now be forcing the GPU to do more work than it is supposed to do. Then the GPU fries and your PS3 is now worthless. Enjoy spending $300 on a new one.

theres also the problem with retriever module being reset back to level 1
i had it on level 2 almost level 3 and after the patch it got reset to level 1 with 0 kills, this was probably to resolve the issue where the kills didnt count towards the upgrade. svcks tho...

You Noob thats what the CELLs are for they do the donkey work and use the GPU just to pump out the final image - You obviously dont know what your talking about when it comes to non-Pc standard architecture. And if Crytek coded it like your saying then no wonder theres problems.

If you read the code properly is says : sys_maxfps = 30
meaning that it wont go up to 40 fps like you said.
Do you think you're the first one to think about modding the game files with a jailbreaked ps3?

Can a patch really solve framerate issues?

Not really. In my many years of gaming I've seen a grand total of one game which had it's frame rate improved via a patch. Normally the developer is getting everything they can out of the platform and what you see is what you get. People expecting a better frame rate with a game this gorgeous are vastly overestimating this generation of consoles.

Lie, Ghost Busters was Sub HD, a patch quickly fixed that.

The Cell can help out with lots of things, but it can't do the brunt of the graphical work like you are implying. Sony had originally intended to go the route of the Cell doing almost everything except fill, but then changed that plan and had to quickly put in a GPU.

Not without frying the GPU. The reason why the res is not full 720p is because the GPU was already operating at max with all the visual stuff it had to do, so they had to cut down the amount of information the GPU had to process. I meant increasing the resolution while leaving all the other settings intact. If they altered some of the settings like in that link, then yes, they can get 720p with a descent framerate. But then they run into a problem. If they turn down the graphics then some people will get pissed that the game is no longer as good looking as it was promised to be.

And I really don't see Crytek putting in the effort to make a patch that will add a graphics options menu to the console versions.

No reason not to other games do ,just not as extensive as a PC - Options to change v-sync, FULL HD,blur ,post msaa and bloom is simple enough , effective visually and should help with framerate. A simple solution to help untill beter coding/patches can be written and tested. 720p would stop the streching look, soften jaggies without the use of resources of blurry AA

I agree with you and would love it if we had a graphics option menu on the console versions. However, I just don't see Crytek being willing to redirect the resources necessary to make it happen.

Air stomp seems to be more buggy since the patch. It might just be me, has anyone else experienced this?
