So I'm stuck on a quest in the College of Winterhold. I'm in the dwemmer ruins that sounds like "Mizlft" and I made it to the end part where you shoot the focus crystal with frost and fire spells to change the refraction of the light. Also you have to rotate segments on the dome ceiling. Can anyone tell me how to solve this?

One more question. I did the Jarl of Winterholds quest and found a werewolf trapped in a cage. When you let it out it attacks you. Is it possible to catch the disease from this werewolf? Or is it only possible through the Companions guild?

It was really complicated for me, at first. Make sure you're using the basic fire and ice spell. The stream one. When I used the higher level spells, it never worked right.

You have to align the reflected beams and the receiver.

Ah. I've been using Firebolt and Ice Spike.

When I used firebolt and Ice spike, it only ever seemed to have two positions. Then I used flames and whatever it had several positions. Then firebolt and ice spike stopped working on it altogether.

Except I don't have that ice stream spell.

The ice stream tome should be on a table in that room for you.

In theory, yes (that's how it was in Bloodmoon at least). However, most people are saying it's only possible through the Companion's Guild. Also speculation that you can do it through Hircine's Ring, however it's been reported that it only works if you're already a werewolf.

Perhaps you could try letting it maul you for a few minutes and report back to us your findings

Well, I kind of did let it maul me for about five minutes lol. Luckily, my main school of magic is restoration . I didn't catch anything but I think it was because I unwillingly prayed to an alter before which had an active effect on me for a long time.

I fumbled my way through that one. I recall using frost first on the focus crystal and then running back up to the buttons and pressing the left one (locked it into place. I then just rotated the other segments on the rook until the "mirrors" aligned with the light. I recall using fire after the frost, but I don't recall using Shock at any point (but I may have as I was just throwing anything and everything at it).
