My Little Ponybox 360 Help Please

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 11:39 pm

I am requesting help on trying to figure out how to transfer files from my flash drive to my xbox 360.

The 360 will read, and use, the files on my flash drive but it is refusing to transfer them and this is getting on my nerves.. Does anyone knows why it is acting like this?

I know it is possible because I transferred Music files from me flash drive to my 360 before. Now, it wont do it for me video files...

Last I remember (my 360 had a second RRoD in December), the 360 has a library for music, but no support for videos. Videos are more of a Playstation 3 sort of thing.

My 360 will run the video files and all. It works 100% fine but it just refuses to save my files onto the hard-drive and I ain't wasting money on a stupid PS3. I don't like those.

I meant files from a computer/flash drive, not normal content found on the 360. But it is possible that I am mistaken, I just noticed that the thread hadn't gotten any replies so I thought I'd see if I could help.

I'm not entirerly sure, but I don't think you can save things on your Xbox from a flash drive. Atleast that's my problem whenever I want to store mp3's in it, not sure about videos. I know that you can put songs into your Xbox if you burn a CD and put it in, but you can't put a flash drive in and transfer the songs.

As I said, I'm not sure about videos, but I assume it's the same thing.

I don't think it can be done. Just set up a DLNA server and stream it to your 360 from your computer (or use Windows Media Center if the files are compatible with that).

Edit: Oh, the 360 is just UPnP, I thought it needed DLNA. Anyway, instructions:

Can I ask what a DLNA server is or can I just like bring my Xbox downstairs and connect to me computer? Idky but my computer refuses the Xbox to 'enter' it, I may say. Stupid weak dell!

Hm.. Older version of Xbox 360 Dashboard must've allowed files from a Flash Drive but now they don't. I see what Microsoft did there.

Temporarily disable any firewall on the PC before running XBMC.

There are also plenty of other programs that can do this besides XBMC, such as PS3 Media Server (it works with the 360 too and a bunch of other devices), Plex (latest builds), and other UPnP programs.

Interesting.. I guess it doesn't matter though.. I can prolly get a reusable CD and just do it as so. I know I have one somewhere.. Or did WMP just 'cleaned' on its own? Hm.. That is prolly me best bet to do without harming me computer. Idc about a useless CD. I actually have plenty of CDs I need to 'clean' out cause I don't use them but they have music files on them!
