No Load Game Option

Post » Mon Sep 17, 2012 7:35 pm

Hi,

I am new to both Skyrim and Xbox playing (Skyrim being my first game) and need a little help please.

Having started playing yesterday for a few hours (Up to Level 2) I managed to get stuck in between some rocks where I couldn't go up or down or move using sneak or normal moving around and have not got to the part of the game to have Fast Travel yet. As it had not been long since an autosave I turned off the Xbox thinking I could go back from where the last save was however the only option I had was New Game - the Load Game option was greyed out.

Do I now have to start all over again as it took me ages to get my character just right?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Have you checked the system area of your console to see if you have saved games under your GT to make sure they are there? That would be the first place to look

This is probably obvious, but as you are new to Xbox gaming, then this is worth a try...When you first load Skryim, it says "Press start". Upon pressing start, a list of connected storage devices will appear. If you happen to select a different storage device than when you first played it (which is where your autosaves will be), then the game wont be able to find those savegames. For example, when you first played Skyrim and you selected (for example) "Hard Drive", your savegames will be stored there. After playing for a while, and then turning off your Xbox, then the next time you started Skyrim, you may have selected another device (for example, "memory unit"). If so, then Skryim will not find your autosaved games, because it is looking in the device "memory unit", instead of your Hard Disk. If this happens, simply quit Skryim and reload it. Then, the next time it says 'press start', try another device to see if your savegames are there.

Excellent, thanks very much I will check that - I haven't got any devices connected to my Xbox but I will check & see if it maybe storing to the cloud. I don't recall seeing any options of where I could store files however, someone else set it up for me initially.

Thanks for the advice

I agree with Slick Van Tanoid, and I can give you screenshots of the process if you need them. Also check to make sure you are signed in on the same account as when you started your game.

Edit: I also meant to say that your saves do exist, and must be there somewhere, because there are two auto-saves just from making your character.
