Lockpicking is not working anymore

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 3:13 pm

Since I completed the Thieves Quest and returned the skeleton key (probably since I obtained it), lockpicking stoped working. While returning it, I tried to pick a Master Lock with it, but I gave up after some time and assumed my skill was to low or just this lock was buggy (I'm lvl 51, Lockpickingskill at 89 and unlocked Adept locks).
After hours of playing and returning the key, I repeadedly fail at any attempt to unlock even Adept Locks. I can't recall any succeeds. I always find the sweet spot and no matter how often I try and I adjust, I fail. Even the unlock cheat via console won't work.

I haven't patched the game, since there are a lot of problems coming with the patches and it works fine, but this issue. I was playing a lot before that problem residesd (without break), I tried to restart the game, but it didn't work.

Yes, I do have a few mods installed, mainly visual so that can't be the problem, also I haven't changed anything about the mods in ages.

Could anybody help my please? I'm playing thief, so this is a major issue for me -.-

I would unplug the mods and see if you can lockpick something. If you can, then plug in one mod at the time and see if it stops with one or more of them.

In the early days of Ob, if I remember correctly, there were similar problems with mods released soon after game release date. Reason was that modders doing things to the game with their mods.

If you still can't lockpick without all the mods, then you pretty well know something is wrong big time.

Good luck.

PS: Patch 1.3 was ok for the PC, so far.

Locks work for me, so this may be a mod issue. And, no it does not have to be a mod that effects Lock Picking. Any mod at this stage is suspect as they are not made with the Official Editor. They are made with a different editor for a different game by different developers with different scripts.

Glad you mentioned that, thanks. I was about to start downloading some mods, now I'll wait.
