Do I look like a female?!

Post » Fri Jan 14, 2011 5:42 pm

Hi

As stated in the topic description I am playing a Male character. For some reason the game thinks that I am a female character, when I speak to certain male NPC's I get Lady Killer when I speak to them, I get Male NPC's calling me dear and 'What a pretty face' and so on (its scary!).

Would anyone know how I can fix this on my end with out having to start all over again? Or is this a problem that the FO New Vegas team will have to fix?

I also noticed a lot of bugs, If I had a list it would be so big that it would take up my two 1TB hard drives.

I'd be greatful for the bug fix or any info on how to fix it on my end.

Thanks :)

Did you use the console to alter your character at all? Such as switching to female, but then back to male?

I have the same issue, happens after a certain point in the game (Repconn HQ maybe?) and I've restarted from the beginning three times or so, my male character also screams like a girl when injured in some instances.

If you mean at the start of the character creation I may have but I'm 90% sure I didn't as I knew which male I wanted to pick. It was the African - American race I picked. I didn't alter my character after Goodsprings, I kept it the same as when I started.

Now that you say Junk Master if I remember correctly or speaking about the same thing here. I done the questline to help the ghouls to get into space (or did they get into space?) I think it happened after that quest line. I also get the female sounds when attacked, I noticed that when I got owned by the Deathclaws on the road. I am half way through the game or nearly half way. There is no way I'm starting again, if I have to then I'll wait for the new expansions to come out then start again. But hopefully it will not have to come to that.

My character has the same problem and I never messed with any settings. I have both the sound glitch and the lady killer glitch.

I haven't used the console to alter my character in any way. Yet some NPCs refer to me as female. Mr. New Vegas says he loves me and that I'm Mrs. New Vegas. Those last bits really creep me out.

Yep, I also get that on the radio to, very scary. It annoys me to see so many bugs in this game, do they hire people to test the game? There is a lot of bug reports going on so far.

Er.

Mr New Vegas is on the radio. He isn't speaking to your character directly and has no idea if you are male or female, nor does he care, because he isn't talking to you in particular. He's talking to his entire audience. In other words, his audience in general is 'Mrs. New Vegas' and 'his audience' does not have a gender because collective nouns don't have genders.

The other bits (Lady Killer on male NPCs etc) do seem odd, though.

I've seen it only once my game.

I'm a female and was referred to as male in one NPCs dialogue. The rest have it right.

I got this bug on the 360 as well, I think it's related to the Confirmed Bachelor perk. Characters assume your character is female because the perk is telling the game that your character likes men.

Lol, well it may make the game more real but I'd pass of the homo stuff.

This seems like a common problem.

You do know that some characters are gay, right?

The one i know for certain is Major Knight in Mojave outpost. You can "flirt" with him using the Confirmed Bachelor (is that the one?) perk and he'll tell you "his kind" isn't exactly accepted in the military (or something like that)

I met the guy, but you also missed out the part about sound like a female when getting attacked. We get those too.
I don't think they have added gay NPCs into the game. If they did add gay NPCs in then they got me and perhaps others too, lol.

Like it or not buddy there are characters in the game who openly state or otherwise indicate that they are gay. Is this a problem for you? I say kudos to the developers for being open minded.

It is somewhat of a nuisance that half of the possible humanoid NPC companions are gay. The lack of evil based companions is also an annoyance.

The main characters voice, if male, also is extremely high pitched and sounds like a teen just hitting puberty, it is not a bug, but it is silly. Not sure why they wanted the main character to sound as such. This voice can be heard if you equip an unarmed weapon or something and start doing the attacks where you hold the attack button down for a more powerful swing.

How are gay companions a nuisance? That doesn't stop Veronica from being a great crowd controller in a fight.

And the VA for the male Courior is Yuri Lowenthal. You'll recognize his voice in some of the other characters.
