Looking for Confirmation RE: Cloak Spells

Post » Tue Nov 13, 2012 9:59 pm

According to the Elder Scrolls Wiki (not found on UESP), the Flame/Frost/Lightning cloak spells add the 8 points of elemental damage to melee weapons in addition to the damage of the cloak itself. Is this correct? If so, does that include already enchanted weapons? More specifically, bound weapons?

It also states that when dual cast, the spells range is increased.

Can anyone confirm this?

I have no evidence to back this up but I would say yes,it makes sense...since it encompasses you, that includes any weapons you are wielding.

No idea but I made a character who used destruction as ranged and sword/shield melee and used lighting cloak all the time. Don't know if the weapon damage was raised but it sure makes combat a whole lot easier since you do constant damage even when shielding. Wall and cloak spells are awesome for armored melee fighters.

True. I've come cross a Staff of Lightning Wall and a Staff of Hag's [Something], which is a flame wall staff. I can't wait to be able to cast these spells. They seem like awesome versions of flames and sparks.

I'm not 100% sure about it adding to damage. But all fire spells have the 'enemies take additional damage' effect. I have found hitting an enemy with flames right before getting into melee makes my blade do additional damage, and I've seen the same thing happen with cloak spells. I can't confirm frost or shock, but fire spells make melee attacks do more damage across the board.

My current character is primarily a mage, but now passing level 40 is starting to play around with swords and a flame cloak or fireball always softens foes up.
