Does anyone know of any special loot that has this effect? I'm playing as warrior and it is a pain to switch to the soul trap spell, cast it while getting beat on (possibly missing and having to wait forever for mana to come back), and then switch back to sword. So I wanted to learn the enchantment ... but I'm level 20 and so far have not found one single piece of gear with the enchantment on it.

Just keep checking all shops that sell weapons, and general stores too, But if you want a epic mace, go to Markarth, go to the Abandoned house, do that quest. It's called House of Horrors and you get a 1 handed mace which has Soul trap on it

Check the smiths, they have random magic weapons sometimes. Believe I found mine in Whiterun.

I dont know if it is specific it certain items but i remember that I came across one pretty early in the game like in the first dungeon. I then disenchanted it to learn the spell and put it on a skyforged sword that I use now.

go to Hag's End, up in the mountains on the very west edge of Skyrim. I got it put on my map from a letter I got from a courier. Pretty sure he gives random locations though...

the dungeon is pretty long, and there is a very annoying boss.


it took most of a playing session for me, but I got through the cave finally. it's worth it for the Soul Trap and one of the cooler Shouts I've seen so far

The 2handed axe of winterun i got from doing the main quest had soul tap on it, so i just disenchanted that so i can enchant it onto other weapons i use.

Dont know if thats just a random weapon when you get it as a reward or not.

Unless it's a different axe, I've had the Winterrun axe on two different characters, and both times it had a frost damage enchant. It may vary though ... I was amazed today to be given the Flame Atronach summon today in order to prove myself to gain entry to the College of Mages instead of the dodgy flame spell I got on my first character.

Personally I got an iron sword with Soul Trap on it for a character level 7, and then disenchanted it. Well worth c. 500 gold, but I was lucky with vendor loot I think, because it's a random table.

The weapon of Whiterun must be random, I got a 2-handed axe of frost, 5 points of damage to health and stamina...

I began to see these in shops around lvl 10. if you are not, buy some items and come back. they will repopulate it seem both when you sleep and when you remove inventory and return. The items began to drop in dungeons for me around lvl 18 or so.

I was irritated when I went to the college of winterhold. I went there simply for a cheap flame atronach spell. When I arrive she offers me a RESTORATION SPELL for 30 septims. REALLY? I am conjuration and destruction don't give me this crap... grr.. the one time I went to the college of winterhold and she wants me to prove myself a worthy mage with RESTORATION.

Walk around the streets of Markarth near the entrance and you may get a quest for one.

Just said this in another thread...I found a 2h axe with it on during the COW quests, was just in a locked chest.

I ran down a hill from whiterun and with some random encounter, a thief ran to me and gave me an axe, said not to tell anyone I saw him and that he will be back. A couple seconds later, someone runs up to me and asks if I saw anyone. Had the choice to ask if the axe belonged to him, lie and say I didn't see anything or tell him I saw someone run up the hill. Well, I told him I saw someone run up the hill and now have an axe with soultrap on it.
