Looking for a name for my new Nordic character.

If you use a second name most Nords have a 2-part family name:
Storm-cloak
Gray-Mane
Silver-Blood
Black-Briar
Whetted-Blade

For inspiration, my Nord is called Hjortr Glen-song. Hjortr means "Stag" or "Deer" I believe.

Other names I have used for other Nord characters are Hraldr and Fafnr.

Maybe you can look up the names of some Norse warriors. You can tweak them/change the spelling to make them your own.

I keep a categorized list of names I have used or plan to use in the future. Here are some of my favorites:

Imperial
Polykleitos (named after an ancient Greek sculptor)
Anaximander (named after a pre-Socratic philosopher)
Odysseus (taken from the Odyssey)

Khajiit
Belisarius (named after Flavius Belisarius; a general of the Byzantine empire)
Ariobarzan (named after a Persian military commander)

Bosmer
Kiyomizu (named after Kiyomizu-dera; a Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan)

I just use names that I think are fitting. It's rare that I adhere to the language of the race/region. :P

I am about to google "famous Vikings", go to the first page it offers, and pick the 7th name on the list for you.

*Drum roll*....Harald Finehair! Not bad.

Hmmmm, here are some viking names (mainly taken from the sagas, only first names)

Halvdan, Gandalv, Harald, Olav, Haakon, Kark, Haarek.

Other names that might work:

Asgeir, Geir, Elg, Ulf.

Some Norse gods (with Norwegian writing):

Tor, Odin, Hod, Balder, Loke, Heimdal.

I was thinking about calling mine Gunnar. "The name Gunnar means fighter, soldier and attacker, but mostly is referred to by the viking saying which mean Brave and Bold warrior (gunnr "war" and arr "warrior")." But then at the start of Skyrim one of the guys was called that so I changed my mind.

I kind of like the names with the silent "J", like Skjor or Hjalti. Just on appearance alone, they have a Nordic aesthetic. Kind of hard to drum up a whole bunch though. "Kjell". That's one. Names with a "st" ending too. There's a character in Bloodmoon named "Korst". That's cooler than my name (Korr).

I usually look for Scandinavian names for my nords, here are some more.

Atle
Hans (maybe not scandinavian, but it works)
Embret (tons of old guys in the south east of norway use this name, by tons I mean maybe 50).
Halvor
Stig (I don't know the origin of this name).

I generally use names from mythology like THOR or HERC for you know who (Hercules in case you don't know) or Balder, Odin, Zues and so on.
There are dozens of champions from mythology to choose from (but some thing like Pee Wee Herman or Tiny Tim wouldn't really work., too well.

I know you already picked but I love the name Jorundr the Wild myself. Or for you, maybe Beor the Mage?
