Looking for a new oldschool gamemmo

Hi guys, I'm looking for a new MMO or game, whatever suits my needs. What my needs are? Of course, I'm a fan of the Elder Scrolls, and have played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim all for at least 200 hours. But before that, back in my junior years, I played quite a lot of RuneScape (dunno about the reception of that game here, as most people discard it). I don't know what I liked most, because it was a lot of grinding. My character wasn't very high leveled or something, somewhat average, which might have to do with my younger me who wasn't focused at all and did random stuff.

I tried to get back into it, but it didn't feel good anymore. I don't know whether it had to do with nostalgia or the new way of design (if you don't know, there is now a possibility to buy huge exp boosts. Before this, you knew that high levels had put a lot of effort in their skills and I had great respect for them. This wheel of fortune cheapened these achievements, and made me quit and tried to find another MMO to fill my needs.

I tried other MMOs (I don't know most of their names anymore, but it was at least a dozen) but none of them gave me the satisfaction and joy of playing (older) RuneScape. Most of the MMOs were pretty generic, with hack 'n slash, generic kill X amount of Y quests, guilds to join with your friends et cetera. For example, I tried the new Neverwinter open beta today with a friend of mine. It felt like I was playing Diablo with prettier graphics in a third person perspective. Nothing wrong with that, and I enjoy it, but I'm still looking for that gem. It HAS to be somewhere. :ahhh:

For this, I ask you to help me. If you know a game or MMO which resembles RuneScape, even in the slightest, please post a name or a link. I don't care if the graphics are crap. I just want that feeling back when I play it.

I hate to be negative but, good luck with that, cause you're gonna need it. Nearly all the MMOs now are like, and to top things off, most have employed the PayToWin scheme which only gives birth to a jaded community. FFXI was the last "good" MMO I've played and its not the same anymore as they have changed the gameplay to to be inline with the current norm.
