Looks like 1.7 was just released.

At least I got it now, according to the in-game version, unless steam auto-subscribed me to the beta, which I wouldn't put past that wonderful piece of software :P.

And now it's [censored] up SKSE.

Say goodbye to a stable SkyUI. :(

Yup, Steam just auto-downloaded the patch to my game, too.

Hopefully we'll also see the corresponding update of USKP with the dialogue fixes back in as well...

(EDIT) Wondering if HiAlgoBoost will also need an update? Guess I'll have to fire up the game and see...

I'm sure it'll happen once Arthmoor gets a chance. Same with the SKSE update. I don't think anybody was expecting the beta period to be quite this short.

The USKP update may have to wait until the CK also gets updated, too. Or at least that was the case with 1.6. We'll see...1.7 was such a small update it may not be necessary.

Should I get rid USKP and wait until he puts out a new version?

I don't see why you would. There's been no known issues with the USKP and 1.7 from what I've seen, and the USKP is one mod I'd recommend never leaving home without. ;) Unless Arthmoor's planning on adding new fixes the only thing a new version would contain would be the dialogue fixes that got stripped out in the 1.0c patch anyway.

The one mod/tool I'd suggest removing every time there's a patch to the game would be SKSE and/or Script Dragon, since they won't function at all with the new game version until they're updated.

*sigh* Better reinstall the game. Be right back in five hours. >_> Well, once my nephew finds something to do while his aunt Klawed is busy.

I just left TF2, so that may explain why I had strange lag issues. It finished DL'ing. Too lazy to start up Skyrim now

I thought it was time to call it a final anyway, and I was mostly worried, that they would needlessly leave it lingering in beta limbo.

After all, there would not have been much point in a longer beta period, because:
- It most apparently did not break anything new, or at least not in a manner, that would have been noticed.
- Since they did not fix several already known bugs, and Dawnguard is pressing, it seemed unlikely, that they would fix more at this time.
- Many people, who identified bugs in the 1.6 beta, were apparently now disillusioned, and nothing much was happening on the discovery front.

What I was a bit surprised about was, that they called it version 1.7, as it was just a game engine update, and did not even address any content bugs. i would have thought, that calling it a late version within the 1.6 series would have helped to lessen irritation in the PS3 universe. (But perhaps they might then not have been allowed to push it onto the Xbox?)

Since it did not address any content bugs (quests, scripts, items, etc.), and I feel it might be a bit premature to give up on them at this point, I would not be surprised, if further 1.7 series patches (or would it then have to be called 1.8?) were forthcoming, where those might be addressed. But who knows?

Someone explain this to me: I just don't get it.

Granted the 1.07 didn't have a lot of stuff that could be reliably checked on PC but why was the Beta only seven or eight days?
Second question why does steam force download something when all of the settings are set to never download unless I want something?

The beta period was actually not too different in length from most of the previous ones, apart from the beta period for 1.6, which was exceptionally long. (And what good did it do?) Personally, i don't see what a longer beta period would have achieved.

The "do not automatically update" option is deceptive, as it actually means "do not automatically update this game although Steam is running, if I am not playing it, but wait until I launch it, and update it then." Many Steam games are multiplayer games, and Steam cannot allow such games to be launched on line without being updated, and it apparently treats all games similarly. The only way to avoid a game being updated and still play it is to remain off line. Essentially, you have misunderstood how Steam works.
