Loot Rights - Is there such a thing as fair?

Post » Fri Mar 29, 2013 3:04 am

How are they doing loot rights? At first I wanted to start this thread talking about all the ways I think LR can be awful and/or wonderful, but then it occured to me that there's a vast amount of information out there already. I'm sure some of you already know how the loot rights are going to work.

I haven't come across that yet, so if any of you know, could you fill me in?

As for the discussion part, there are some systems I really hate and some that I think should work:

BAD IDEA:
1. First past the post. The "most dps wins the loot" system is utterly broken if you ask me. If multiple groups are all fighting the same world boss, then each of those groups should have a shot at some loot, some how. Doesn't matter how, but if you simply give all the loot to the highest DPS group, then you create two big problems:
Mega Guilds get to monopolize the best game content, and in fact have an incentive to do so. That frustrates a substantial number of your regular players.
DPS classes have advantages in races against single mobs. You don't want your high DPS characters to have auto-wins on the loot rights and other mob credits.

From numerous reports, there are no loot rights. Everyone gets a separate loot table for each enemy they help kill.

No word on whether group leaders can change this but this is how it works by default.

If i remember correctly you have to do 10% of dmg to what you are attacking within a group
before getting loot.

Yep, or 10% of equivalent healing...not really sure how that works but healers get loot too.

You need to reach a participation threshold of 10% DPS or equivalent as buffs or heals to roll on the loot table. Every player that participated in killing the mob rolls by itself, then either you're lucky or not but it doesn't depends of the other members of the group that killed the mob (grouped or not).
It shouldn't be dependent on the leader setting anything as the rolls go to every player grouped or not that killed the mob. So no Xp stealing or loot stealing is possible.
