Looting in Cyrodiil

Post » Thu Nov 07, 2013 9:12 am

Most of you might know this already,

But there will not be a player looting system in Cyrodiil. You do get "PVP points" or whatever they are calling them for killing enemies.

I personally would love to have a mix of both looting and getting points for kills. The reason I prefer a looting system where players who die lose their items that they brought with them, is it would serve as a huge money/item sink for the game.

They already announced that there will be banks. Why not make it to where people who go to Cyrodiil should only bring what they are willing to lose or risk for the sake of the war.

Either way, I have no problem with the system they currently have in place, but I would love to search the dead bodies of enemies I have slain and possibly finding useful Armour or weapons to sell or use.

What is your opinion about this?

No thanks its not fun for me personally to limit myself when going into PvP. I like going all out.

As do I sometimes, but other times I like the risk-gain factor.

Are there any penalties for death in Cyrodiil?

Not really, you just go to the closest spawn point as far as i know.

BTW, this is not changing, it has already been made clear by the devs this is the way they want to go, they want to actually get good amount of people playing instead of a barren wasteland

Thanks for the welcome :D

Actually, you are right about that. If there is too much risk, the war will not be as massive as it could be, which would take away from the fun of it.

Oh well. Hopefully they implement other ways for risk takers to get their adrenaline rush :)

Losing items on death is 100% guarenteed to disinterest me. (Main reason I never went to the wilderness in Runescape) It is a silly mechanic and discourages doing your best as you have to limit yourself based on how much money you want to spend if you die. Few people would wear the better items in meaning everyone will mostly run around in the cheapest stuff they can buy or make. (Much like Runescape).

However. If they made limited truly unique items, such as the daedric artifacts, then I could agree, the risk of losing them if killed would up the interest factor.

I also played RS which is why I brought this up. However, now I do understand that putting too much risk in Cyrodiil will cause it to be much less active and will result in people running around with the cheapest items available.

I just wish there was a little more to the fight when it comes to material reward.

I'm not sure if this is true, but are players in Cyrodiil able to place bounty on other players? That would be really cool. Maybe when you target an enemy it can show how much bounty is on their head. Once killing them you automatically receive the gold from the player who placed that bounty.

That would be very interesting.

There's going to be a crime system implemented, it might address that idea, and I would love it if it did.

But yeah, this game would have had to have been designed around a loot system from the beginning, and it would also probably need to be more of a sandbox type game to begin with to have lootable pvp.

Its mass-PVP, loot just isnt viable option, thats if nothing else you want to do is to loot corpses? Theres alliance points and 25 ranks in Cyrodil.

Theres penalty for losing the match... winner gets nice bonus and losers dont. It somekind of bonus what affects on everything on the faction. Yeah, one could say Cyrodil is "meaningful" PVP, also thats where the faction pride kicks in.
