Losing Friends After High School

Post » Sat Dec 01, 2012 10:39 pm

Exactly as the title says, I have lost a lot of friends since graduating high school, and this does not make me happy :(

I have always been content with the amount of friends I've had. I was especially happy with the people I considered my best friends, we were all very close-knit and everyone always got along. Then graduation came and, as if on cue, it began to fall apart. Some went to college away from home, others simply started to flat-out not like eachother anymore. Everyone just kind of split up and started going their own ways, but I feel like I'm the only one who hasn't really made any new friends since. I used to hang out with these people nearly every day, now I go entire weekends off of work without a text or a call from anybody. And making new friends isn't as easy as it might seem. I work at a nursing home so most of my co-workers are older ladies or 20-something year olds who have better things to do than talk to an 18 year old. I don't think I've ever had a friend that I met outside of school, so now that I'm out of school I'm out of friends. Please tell me I'm not the only person this has happened to :ermm:

I had my first sad experience last year when I joined Facebook. The first thing I did was to find all of the nice people I met in high school. It was there, through an old time high school friend, I found out that a classmate died in a motorcycle accident:(

That really hit home, because I remember back then I was late for a class field trip, and out of the blue I heard someone yelling my name. It was my friend Jason in his motorcycle. He was going to the trip as well, so he gave me a ride; gave me a nazi-like helmet which made feel like an idiot.

Anyways, he passed away somewhere around 1994-96, I was in art school by then. So sad. He was a big guy with a big heart. His mother must have been devastated since, if I recall, was her only child.
