I've asked this before, but none of the suggestions I received worked. What can I do about getting the third stolen book for the "Hitting the Books" quest? It's on the lectern (in Fellglow) when I enter the chamber, but during the ensuing fight, it disappears. I've searched strenuously on the floor, pushing aside the bodies, and all around the ledges, but it's gone. This happened before with a previous character and I had to give up the quest. Is there an "additem" cheat code I can use to get it? Where do you find the id numbers of items?
I already lost my carl on this quest, in addition to surviving a dragon attack and being attacked by a gang of thugs, and am fed-up. I wonder if it's worth it.

The code to add an item to your inventory is:

player.additem 1

You have to put the 1 at the end to tell the game you are adding one of whatever it is, if you don't specify the number to add nothing will happen.

So to add one instance of the necessary copy of Night of Tears to your inventory, you would use

player.additem 0004d249 1

Urgh if the OP was playing on the PC, this post would have never have existed since everyone who plays on the PC knows about console commands.

If the OP isn't on PC, why is s/he asking about "additem" codes and reference IDs for the books? None of that would be of any use to someone on console.

Gimme a break, OK? I know about console commands, I just couldn't find the titles of the books I needed to get.
