Pretty sure this is an un-fixable problem, but I thought I'd ask....

I'm trying to complete the 'Helm of Winterhold' Quest and I'm faced with the Coral Dragon Claw door.

Trouble is, I don't have it anymore.

I've read all the stuff about getting it from Birna, or if you don't / can't get it from her, it should be on a pedastal when you go in to Yngol Barrow...

...but I think I've messed this up properly.

I've got a feeling that I might have picked this coral claw up a while ago (possibly tried to complete Helm of Winterhold when I wasn't strong enough, before leaving to try something else). If I go back to old saved games the last time it was in my inventory was when I was completing the Fellglow Keep mission at level 6 (currently level 23...so don't want to go back).

I've got a very strong suspiscion that I left it in one of the chests at the end of the mission (Hitting the Books?) in Fellglow Keep as there was a lot of good treasure and I was too laden down....thinking that I could go back and pick it up later.

BUT...

You can't get back in to the key areas in Fellglow Keep anymore!! The 2 doors letting you in have been filled in with rocks and rubble.

This just seems like a bit of bad luck, but also bizarre game design. A) to be able to let go of something necessary to complete missions, and B. to not be allowed back in to an area for no particularly good reason.

Even if I didn't leave it in Fellglow (and sold it to someone afterwards...which I've checked) it's still extremely frustrating that I seemingly can't complete this mission now.

Try visiting Birna again.
I seem to recall having more than one of this claw in my inventory once.
