I was not paying attention and I found myself killing two Giants the aftermath was two dead giants but no thane she was gone. I think I accidentally made her wait somewhere and now I can't find her its really annoying cause she was carring alot of good stuff and my game is at a stand still right now and I also have been searching for her for like two days now in real time.. Is there any patch in the works that can summon a thane or a helper you hired to join you after you may have lost them??

You might find them back in the place you first acquired them.

Just to be clear, YOU are the Thane, Lydia is your housecarl.

If she's waiting somewhere she'll soon get bored and return to your house. Have you checked there? You should see a notification that "your follower has left your service" after several days.

Had this happen recently with my ally. I never fast travel and have never been to jail, but a friend of mine told me if I get arrested they would return.

So I punched a man in the face, got arrested, no ally!!!

I hate fast-travel but I decided to let it slide once and see if I could get my ally back by fast-traveling to a nearby city.

This also failed.

Note, at the time I didn't know if I'd accidentally made them wait or what had happened!

So, bummed out, I fast-traveled back to the town I'd been in to get back in my spot after the little failed experiment, and it told me "Your follower grew tired of waiting and went home..." or something like that.

So I had to run like 3,452 miles back to their home.

Haha, great response. Yeah OP you are Thane, try where you first got your companion.

If you was as good at finding the right forum as you was at finding your follower, you wouldn't have needed to ask for help.

It's 24-48 hours before they leave you service. If your house isn't in the hold where you got your housecarl, they'll go back to the keep.

Lydia has a tendancy of getting herself locked up for some reason.
