I love brink but...

Post » Mon Jan 03, 2011 2:27 am

This game has so many monumental flaws, at least on xbox live, it will never go anywhere.

1. It's damn near impossible to game a full game with no bots! Where is the matchmaking system? What is this, 2003?
2. There is no team death match, and while I don't really mind, anyone who wants to make money should.
3. There seem to be no stats anywhere on the game? Maybe I am mistaken.
4. If I wanna change the map I need to back out and make a new lobby? Really? I choose any and it just keeps replaying the same map...

This all could have been remedied if there had been a beta, rule #1 with FPSs; no beta, no quality.

Other than those few monumental things for online, I love this game but when no one on my friends list has brink it splash damage makes it impossible to find a full game it makes me wanna return the game... and go back to black ops which I COMPLETELY HATE... because I miss the social aspect of Xbox Live!

But that's just me, I hope everyone else loves their game. Just to be fair;

1. SMART is so damn amazing it makes it hard to play any other game
2. Customization is less than what I thought it would have been but deeper than anything else. I was hoping for a money system, in this system every level 20 has everything. I like being forced to choose.
3. FINALLY! Objectives for a purpose...
4. Challenges were nice but lacking...
5. Campaign was nice but you can beat it in less than 3-4 hours, but who plays FPS for campaign anyway.

Did you seriously just say there's no TDM and no stats? This has been known since last YEAR. They made this VERY clear.

Thanks for being, well...objective. I really hope the devs address the multiplayer issues. We all know how dumb the bots are, but if it's hard to get into a game with no bots, I'm going to go mental.

I'm not saying I didn't no there weren't? I'm saying that's what will kill it. I knew there'd be no leaderboards but I thought there would at least be a team stats page at the end of the match. ShadowRun had "no stats" but they still told you how everyone did at the end of the match. I need to be able to scream at someone when my team loses dammit lol

Not only is it hard to get a game with no bots, it's hard to get a game with 4 people who stay.

Not on Xbox 360.... must have needed better testers because none of the pro gamers I know would have let this thing on the market.

Probably because it's the day of release and few people have the game. By Friday (Global Release) it'll be simple to find a full match without bots.

Edited your post to touch on these matters which I would hug you for being so right!

You're completely right on this. Without stats or TDM, this game won't do very well on the console because most folks are highly competive and need that carrot on the end of a stick to play a game. That people sometiems just want to kill things without worring about objective...I totally called that one 2 weeks ago.

This is still a mystery to me why a game thats so "ground breaking" like this didn't have a Beta. You're right though, would have fixed many of its problems and got a lot more Buzz going for it.

Ever looked at a little game called Battlefield Bad Company 2? Sure its only got a set up for 4 man sqaud chat but most of the people I have on my list are from that game. MUCH better than Black ops. Check it out. Been out for over a year and I still play the heck out of it.

And here we have the ultimate flaw. I like you want people to pcik a path and stick with it. Once you get to the max level you should have everything but be very good at what you did select. They really need to make a game like that.

Very well put together. May I ask if you'd recommend the game as a whole then? Or just a rental?

None of your complaints have anything to do with a beta. The lack of team deathmatch and stats was intentional by the developers.

I can see that your not feeling certain aspects of it, but this game feels like it might be just what I'm looking for. I'm a bit of a older gamer so it might just be me, but I tend to play my games (fps included) for the campaign as well as multiplayer, and if this is a team based game, then I don't really need TDM that badly, it would have been fun to have a choice, but in my gaming world it really isn't a deal breaker. Stats are great, but I know quite a few players that are more than just there K/D ratio, some guys are great at support, some are great at objectives, some are great leaders that lead by example, and some are just great team players. If this game is one that can really make a team work shine, then I'm all for it.

That's a bit of an exaggeration I'm sure. And yes there are people online, but not enough to make the matchmaking system as streamline and quick as a game that's been out for a while. Remember, this game's been available to the general public for less than 13 hours.

Halo does matchmaking with 30K people online and 20 game types? This game has 2 gametypes. Need 1500 online to do it. BUT THERE IS NO MATCHMAKING SYSTEM. You choose private or public. There isn't even a list of public rooms to choose to join.

Bots just have no place in an online competitive atmosphere... It's childish

I'm really just complaining so the devs know what to fix. Its not like I'm returning the game. Just hoping it gets patched.

Give it time dude, the rest of the wold still has 3 days to wait.

As to map rotation, it's campaign objective MP so i would expect it play out in order, if you win you move on if you lose you try again.
