Love Rage but pop rocks unstoppablejackals harder to kill

I hear so many people say Rage is an easy game and really it is but it's also very fun and one of my favorites. It's a perfect game to deal with urge to play Skyrim. Also I can't wait to play Rage's DLC.

With that said I think pop rocks make Rage even more of an easier game, they are so fun but my next playthrough I'm leaving them out for two reasons. One is they usually make tear apart the enemy so bad you can't even loot them. Two is they are so powerful and soooo easy to make. I'm not even gonna get into the wingstick but also very fun but very very overpowered and very easy to come by. Even with pop rocks being my favorite ammo and wingsticks being my favorite weapon I think I will leave them out next time. Without those items I think the game will be a little harder on nightmare. Rage's nightmare is really no nightmare, we all know that. I wish it was like dead space where you can only die twice or something. Also the defib could have easily been left out, I would have much rather loved to have an auto save for some of the longer mission toward the end. It's not because I'm lazy but sometime I forgot, I took my time with these levels so playing a half hour then dying and having to go back to square one was pretty annoying. At least I only got killed a small number of times, one of them being a glitch, that was not fun 45 minutes of gameplay gone.

I'd also like to point out that the enemies were very easy to kill with any weapon but I found the jackals to be a little more challenging, did you? It was weird that the boss battle were the easiest. I expected very hard bosses but got these fragile small dudes.

Overall Rage was fantastic. Please do not take this as a hate thread. I am the biggest fan of Rage out of everyone I know. The things I mentioned were just minor problems, I wouldn't even call them problems more like small mistakes on ID's end. I'm sure the weapons can be patched to be less powerful, either way no big deal.

For people that loved the game my question is was there anything you would want changed and do you agree with anythng I have said?

Yeah, the pop rocks would be better if they damaged you more when they explode close to you. As it is I can vaporize a guy two feet away and hardly get scratched. Those are the kinds of tweaks I expect modders to come up with. Everyone keeps talking about modifying the textures or whatever, but serious id fans what more hardcoe run-n-gun challenge.

Those two do seem overpowered. Fun, but very powerful. I tended to save the pop rocks for the bigger and tougher enemies. Definitely didn't like using them on a lootable enemy.

I wish the sewers would have been more extensive. I guess I'm spoiled by the sewers and subways of Fallout 3. It was also very difficult to sneak up on mutants in the sewer. It was like they knew I was coming. I guess they have enhanced senses.

Yeah leaving out by just "not using" some of the more powerful weapons will cause more challenge, and that's a good way to contour your own level of difficulty.

I really enjoy Rage but if I had to voice my biggest gripe with the game it would be the races against other cars that are mandatory to do in order to advance in the game. The Cuprino race for instance was a total annoying pain in the butt for someone like me whose great with shooters but terrible at racing games and never plays that type of game. I found it very frustrating and it will probably keep me from replaying it . . . which bites because I really love the game's setting, scenery, guns, explorations, missions, and characters. It's a great blend of FPS/RPG. I even like the battles between cars in the Wasteland, just not the competition races. I wish they had been totally optional instead of partially optional. Just my two cents.

I found the "mandatory race" stupid... but I was able to beat it... Pop rocks rock but way OP... half way through hard using my face (disabled gamer) and I have only died 3 times lol so yeah it's kind of easy. p.s. I beat starky to win his stuff waaaay easy to beat him lol

Totally agree! Hated the races. Sure they were fun for some, but like you, I love shooter games and hate racing games. I love "real" fast sporty cars, but never been a fan of racing games.

Totally agree it's easy with pop rockets.
Racing was annoying a bit.
I like the difficulty of CO-OP MP solo. They are hard to beat and that reminds me of survival mode!
That is why I keep saying bring on the horde mode cause I like challenges.

Pop rockets = no bodies to loot so I rarely used them (bosses only). I think that balances them out a bit...

I would love a bit more AoE and a little less damage. Maybe make pop rockets a bit less accessible (10-15% more expensive somehow) but I like the functionality.

Pop rocks should definitely not be underpowered such that the double barrel is the only way to get a one hit kill.

Getting hurt by an area effect seems only sensible, that grenades are dangerous and should not be used in tight spaces.

I'm sure someone has asked but how in the world do you press the buttons? Pretty damn cool that you have success in the game regardless if it's easy.

As for pop rockets, I think it's the "iwin" button, this game has tons of it because ids most likely intention was to make it scalable for all levels of gamers...from the fps noobs to the circle strafing monkeys--I like using pop rockets on mutatnts because love seeing them SPLAT, and you can't loot them anyways :)

Also to add, the old school rocket launcher in quake was also OP and the pop roccks are so similar in function to tahr weapon...difference is that now you can buy as much ammo as you want pretty much. Oh and I love the mini games I wish it wasn't so easy to win though but I do get...hey if you want tons of money and sine simple fun play the mini games. The game would also benefit from perhaps another form of currency, or more big ticket items...vehicles or variants on gun looks function can stay the same but have it be another color or made in another material etc...

The biggest challenge early for RAGE2 or fitter DLC is what game will I'd make...it's tough when you clump so many genres together, people want it all and you can't blame them or you get those who are into 1 aspect of the game but not the other 2. I personally would love more rpg elements and maps or areas where monsters just reset/respawnnafter you have left the area(thunk wow). Leave driving in there because its pretty fun but if I had to sacrifice an element for the greater good if the game, driving would be it. Also another huge challenge is fitting this game in 3 discs again, unless next gen has blu ray for both consoles and has much bigger HDs
