Fairly early on in the game and just found the Scimitars on Kematu..... They are so cool... why on earth can't they be forged. :(

Perhaps their construction method is top secret from the Alik'r?

In general, I like the Alik'r, as well as the Forsworn. Even though my pc is a Nord, I liked the Redguards and Bretons more after seeing these groups.

I also like those swords, but it is a true shame you cannot forge them.

"Mai'q thinks a curved sword is probably bent. Must have been weak to get bent so. I would not want my weapon so feeble."

Every scimitar-lover should look into finding Windshear, the Scimitar among scimitars.

Scimitars are one of the most effective as a lower ranking sword (along with skyforge weapons) but towards the higher level they become less effective which makes sense for the reason that the Redguards are not renown for their ability in smithing and producing metals such as steel. My guess is that the sword is good due to its design and shape rather than due to expert knowledge of smithing. The design could even be one brought across from Yokuda.

According to lore, Nords are best at making steel and orcs are best at smithing. We don't see it in Skyrim for some strange reason, but I believe chainmail is supposed to be a Nord speciality). Then Imperials are the probably most effective at enterprising weapon manufacturing (steel plate & ebony?).

I have a Redguard character who wears either Redguard clothes or dresses in full dwarven armor (as fitting in with Hammerfell lore). This character still uses scimitars as choice of main weapon (plus dwarven shield, dwarven bow & dwarven axe)

Got my first scimitar off a guy on the deck of a ship a bit north of Solitude. It became my favored weapon for some time.

He knows.

My first character found one somewhere, but decided it wasn't suited for him and started using Skyforge Steel blades.

I'm expecting the khajiit to also have curved swords in games to come but my guess is probably thinner and more Indian looking

Same here, I went there right after escaping Helgen and the scimitar was my first weapon after the Imperial Sword. I love it, my Khajiit weaponmaster has been using it since.

J'derras expects they would be more like the persian shamshir, which means "curved like the lion's claw." Fitting, no?

I dual wield a pair of scimitars, smithed to legendary with a frost damage enchantment. While this is only anecdotal they seem to swing slower than my heavier blades katanas.
