Loves and Hates of Skyrim

Lets settle all of these threads right here right now

Post what you love and hate argue with other people that their reasons are stupid or awesome and the biggest thing is SAY WHY YOU THINK THIS!

Ill start

I love dragonborn story line, it is awesome, in my eyes best main story line in any TES. I felt like i was living the tail and people truly understood that i a BOSS. I wont go into detail for spoiler reasons, but let just put it this way the twist and turns i got from people i was never expecting to be part of my journey it was insane!

My hate towards skyrim are lack of mage spells, they very bland in my eyes and do not look awesome compared to other games, i love the concept of duel wielding and things like that but the animations and variety could have been improved and of course the addition of spell crafting, that is dearly missed!

lets go guys lets end the 100 threads of little things and put them all here and get a HUGE thread going to free up space for real problems and questions during adventuring and starting in skyrim for those who want it and need it.

I love the sheer size and scale of the landscape, how impressive it all is and how much fun everywhere is to explore as well as how much lore there is behind everything to learn and read up on, as well as how interesting all the races and various ways of playing the game are which adds a whole lot of replayability, I also like the majority of quests, daedric in particular and there's a whole lot of characters that I like. I really like the combat and perk system too.

There's not much that I hate, really, if anything. However I could easily complain about how lacking some of the guilds in Skyrim feel.

i would have to agree the size of the map and random side quest you find each play through are amazing and one of the things that get me to keep trying new builds! it is awesome.

absolutely, prime example is the companions guild it is so dull of a quest line and as many people stated in 5 quest you are leader of guild with no questions asked.

Another thing i hate about skyrim is the force werewolf attribute when doing companion guilds, i can never get it to really suit a Role play for me. I tried to be vampire hater and it didnt work, i gave up quick.

There is just sooooo much to love about this game that I dont even know where to begin. IMO, its one of the best games EVER (Chess still being my first love). The character design, size and scope of game, graphics, replay-ability, I can go on and on.

What I hate:

"Names NIls" - Ugh. Dude I know, I know. You say that all the time.

Dislikes:
Inter-connectedness of quests, particularly being forced to do part of the main quest in order to begin the civil war quests.
Removal of Attributes
Removal of underwater combat
Removal of the one-last-chance to re-do chargen choices at the end of the tutorial
The 3D map and the overly-large, butt-ugly map icons
The "star map" perk interface

Likes:
-This game's strength is definitely the little details.
-How open world is supposed to be.
-Well written stories with nice twists on them.
-I really great game, no argument there.

Dislikes:
-Spell play-throughs are severely lacking in content and gear compared to their counterparts.
-Faction/Guild quest lines WAY WAY WAY too short with nearly no variety when compared to the past games. They needed this.
-Not enough variety in armor and weapons. I would love the ability to craft a ton of DIFFERENT looking armor regardless of the stats. Give me more to pick from, ESPECIALLY for mages.
-Where are the little updates? It would be awesome for them to add small armor/weapon/spell packs each month or big ones every so often to keep us coming back for more. Something to get us from patch to patch.

Suggestion:
-gamesas needs to go and buy some mods from the community, refine them, then put them into the game officially (xbox and ps3 owners need mod love). They should buy 'Hothtroopers' armor mod and add all those armor sets and weapons into the game along with the companions he's created. If they rewarded talent in their community they gain so much more love and adoring fans.

That's my 2 cents...

I hate every single quest, they're all bland and tedious with no motivation to complete due to their lack of consequences and sense of achievement. I hate how all the characters are forgetful and uninteresting, in Oblvion every single NPC had a uniquer personality and views and in Skyrim they'll all the same. The fact there's not a single damsel in distress in the game and instead all the woman are testosterone filled warriors who make up most of the armies in the game. Anti-climatic main quest with the most predictable and tedious story out of all the ES games. Lack of choice, even though you're the Dragonborn, you've feelings and ideas are dismissed by others and you have to do what you've been told. Boring weapons, very few unique weapons whcih can only be achieved through Daedric lord quests. Bad lore which feels rushed and made-up on the spot. Every NPC is essential and can't die (should be like New Vegas where every NPC can die and if they are killed its really tough luck). No spell creating. Lack of books (most are brought back from previous games). Invincible companions. Badly designed and unpopulated towns (about 5 houses per city). Contradicting story and flawed intro.

I like the new dual wielding swords and spells

Malachi22 i love your post, made me think even more about something that i totally agree with!

little updates OMFG what an awesome idea this would deffinetly make me come back more and more to even play a warrior more than once!
the new gear and weapons would be great i hate looking common, i like to be unique considering that the game is not extremely hard i do not need best of the best to do good i rather look awesome with a great looking weapon than have full deadra just cause it is OP compared to everything else. This would also help promote 3rd person playing because everyone loves to see how great they look

another thing i would say they could improve on is adding more difficulties for those of us that love a challenge, something that aims toward us hardcoe players of TES series, if it optional the less hardcoe players (casual gamers) could still do what they do now, a survival mode type like fallout NV has, but called something different to fit into skyrim, like the "The Nord Way" this meaning live off the land no healing/stam/magika potions at all only food and it cuts doubles restoration magika cost and stuff like that to make it a challenge and im sure they could think of other and better things i could but it is a start!! a little patch could fix this (i think, i dont really know)

I dislike the fact that there aren't more spell effects. I dislike that the questlines were so short. I thought most of them were good but they ended too soon. I dislike that they scaled back the NPC behavior and made them say less things.

I like everything else about the game.

Well I really love the ambient nature, noises, weather, nature. The Viking (insert Nord) feel to the architecture, the lifestyle of the Nords. I like the armor, the weapons, the archery.

I dislike this:
The PC left out left-handeds! Yes, you cannot up to THIS DAY, and I've complained about this since 11-11-11, use the keypad, and also the game will not recognize the fact that your operating system has the mouse set up as left-handed (which almost all games do).

So this is the only game I have to get used to using my middle finger instead of my index finger to open things and such, which is a big big pain, and we southclaws have to use third-party software or hardware in order to fix this stupid stupid stupid technical design by Bethesda. Big thumbs down on their giving us left-handed people the middle finger.

i disagree 100%

oblivion was a more tramadic story line and it affected the whole empire so yes more people where involved, in skyrim is is a little "state" in a huge world that is having a civil war so really only nords care not everyone. Also, the Nords are warrior ALL of them female or male they are not breed to be house wives like the empire females are. and for predictablity every game is you save the day, eveyrone knew you were gunna stop the dragons? so i do not understand this aspect of complaining. your a prophecy you need to fulfill you prophecy and defend your land and your people, not be selfish and say fend for yourself i am tired! that is the point of the game you are a HERO and GOD, not some criminal that ends up being a hero for some weird reason. If you ask me that is why i LOVE the main story so much i am important form the start, i am a god and people respect that no matter where you go, "you, your dragonborn" when i hear that in skyrim i am like fu*k yeah i am back off, such a boost in my game play. For unique weapons i can AGREE on that only they did not give us a huge way of making us feel better than the next or a previous character, mage with daedric armor warriors with deadric armor stealth with daedrai armor is gets boring and stupid after awhile, so i agree with that. NPC cant die because every npc is important and unlike new vegas if an important person dies it can end the chain or ruin the game for you where NV had like 10 endings so it didnt matter the odds of you killing all possible endings was impossible, and the huge one is this is NOT NV it is SKYRIM, the Legend of the DragonBORN!

so i disagree with i think your wrong on just about all of your remarks but the 1 i mentioned so i disagree, 99%, please i want to read your rebuttal.

I literally HATE that I cant turn off the HUD without also, turning off the crosshairs and names and "tags" of items i.e. stolen or not, locked doors etc.
I dont wanna see the compass or my health bars yet I wanna see what it is im trying to pick up or open. So silly but no way to fix on consoles.

Health regen. :yuck: I understand Magicka and Stamina regen but I am NOT wolverine ova here.

College quest line too short.

Cant side with Thalmor
Essental NPC's.
Hot Key debacle, REALLY annoying for a Mage. Really annoying.
Again...2 hotkeys? cmon.
Beating a dead horse but Armor slots and types of armor too limited, Although they do look nice.
Spell making, gone. Poof!
Forcing me to use lockpicks. I want to use a spell. Why cant I?
Somewhat limited choices in spells. They look good and they ARE good..yet still feel a bit limited. Lost quite a few spells from previous ES and gained only a handful.
Could say story is generic, but honestly? What ES story wasnt?
Still dont like the changes to the "social aspect" being a vampire since Morrowind. I want to be a pariah if I am a vampire. I dont want to go to the Tavern and drink ale.
I will hate, hate, hate, the stupid idea of dragon riding if it gets implemented.

I Love- Everything else honestly. Easier to list the hates because they are quite small when I weigh them against the good.

List of hates may seem like alot, but its really just small things, most important ones to me, could have been fixed with toggles, Regen, HUD and possibly even hotkeys (grrrr)
