No low intelligence dialogue?

Post » Mon Jan 31, 2011 8:04 am

Playing a character that's low on intelligence (set at 1 and no implant) in order to see something funny but after a few hours I'm yet to read anything different from my first character which was Intelligence (9 at start 10 With the implant). I've read reference to [Dumb] options on dialogue, are they this rare or is this character buggy?

I hate to think its bugged and I'll have to start again.

There's this one unmarked quest..

Spoiler
Where you need an Intelligence of 8 to lie to a Caesar's Legion Centurion, or at least that's what I think his rank is, about being a messenger of Caesar in order to get him to spill information on NCR. The whole dialogue session is completely funny as hell if you lie all the way. I felt seriously awesome at making a fool out of that dude. Not sure what the dialogue would be if you were under 8 so you may want to check it out. Its at Camp McCarran *Something like that*.

Edit: The low option probably just means that its a "one response" conversation though..

Beyond that and the Helios 1 dialogue said above, I don't actually remember anything else.. Most of the speech checks in New Vegas are skill-based, rather than attribute-based on what I can tell.

Well you could say so unless someone comes along and mentions several more instances aside from the two mentioned.

Like I said, skill-based dialogue seems to be much more common than attribute-based, most notably a Barter check being available in almost, if not, every quest related to caps or bargaining of some sorts.

They may have thrown a few things in but generally speaking this kind of thing hasn't been practical since games went over to full voice overs. Considering FO's history with this kind of thing I'd hope they throw a few things in but for them to add enough to make it worth it for a play through is too expensive nowadays.

I just hoped they would have included as many as the usual Science, Repair, Speech etc ones so from time to time you can simple say something really inane. It needn't have added any more work than one of those dialogue branches.

Next time you are near the New Vegas Med Center, ask about the Intelligence implant.
