Lydia and House Ownership

Post » Wed Sep 05, 2012 6:25 am

Anyone know a work around (Xbox 360) with Lydia not recognizing you as the owner the house she's in, such as Breezehome or the new Lakeside Manor. If this happens, she essentially marks any bed you have in the place as one that is not owned and you don't get well-rested or Lover's comfort bonus from sleeping in it, as it somehow marks the house as not yours.

Anyone have this happen or have any solutions?

I take is since you can move her that she is your wife. I wish I knew. Never got a lovers bonus from her on the PS3 or on the PC that I currently play on. I think it may have to do with the fact she is a housecarl and somehow the game keeps her that way in breezehome or any other home you move her to. She sleeps in my bed in breezehome but her old bed still shows "owned"

There is a well-known bug with Lover's Comfort where you don't get it if you have your spouse (whoever that is--it's not only a problem with the housecarls) move into your home first. The workaround is to tell your spouse you want to move into "their" place--even if it's the same as "your" place, as is the case with housecarls. Then sleep there, which should give you the bonus. After that, you can move anywhere you like and it should work.

Everything I've seen says you should do this immediately after the wedding, but you could try it now--it might still work for you.

I never got lover's comfort. Wondering if it's because I have the lover's stone as my bonus.

Probably: it doesn't stack with the bonus from that stone. It does stack with the Warrior, Thief and Mage stones, though.

You also can't get the benefit if you're a werewolf.
