Lydia is a beast

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 12:21 am

I gave Lydia a steel great axe and she is just demolishing everything in sight. Does she get any stronger? I could just sit back and have her kill the whole game it seems. :D

Hmm. My Lydia died in our first encounter with a Frost Troll on the way to High Hrothgar. I thought she was pretty prissy...so I left her corpse to slowly rot in the snow.

At first i also thought she was a beast, but now I think she is getting weaker as I level up, maybee it's my imagination but she just dies faster even when I give her good equip.

Companions make the game too easy, so I leave them behind unless the quest forces me to bring one.

I've read about 3 ways companions could die, and all 3 involved you [censored] up. So yes, being careful results in companions not dying.

And I don't want my lovely Lydia to die.

That's not true about you having to kill companions. Once they go down on one knee enemies will leave them alone, but they can still be killed by you OR by an enemy if they get stuck in the middle. In my case Lydia was on one knee and was between me and the troll. The troll tried to attack me, but killed her instead. I was being careful not to hit her. This happened to another one of my companions as well, but I reloaded.

I think I'll do that too. Lydia is pretty much killing everything except bosses in 1-2 hits and she's extremely durable as well, it's sort of too easy. I'll miss her for extra storage, but it won't be too bad.

Incorrect.

They can die by any enemy in the game. They get knocked down a few times but after so many in the same fight the companion will die. I have had Lydia killed when fighting in the Northwatch Keep. I just let her take on all the guards with the 3 Nords while i sat and watched and she most certainly ended up dead.

I actually managed to kill her by accident. She stepped in the way of my Dragon Shout and got caught in the blast. Really bummed me out.

I liked Lydia, but she had to go.

Her stupid response about bearing my burden every time I traded gear with her was driving me crazy!

I picked Aela the Huntress as my companion, seems more feisty than Lydia. Makes a mean homecooked meal as well.
Also quite fetching, wearing the Forsworn armor :)

Sorry just had to...

The thing with companions is you cant change the gear they have equipped unless you give them something else which is better. The default weapons and gear they start with are companion items and work VERY differently (for example companion bows dont use arrows). For those who think she is too powerful visit a dungeon you haven't explored yet and see what happens. For those who think shes too weak give her better gear.

@revisfan

Everyone has Lydia because shes the first companion at the earliest stages of the game story, bro.

Thats one of the things I don't like about companions, if they do all the work then you don't raise any skills and you level slower.

Lydia can die. Make sure you give her better armor and weapons and she WILL keep up.

Yeah I think she is a beast as well. I was on my way to high Hrothgar, and after 5 encounters with the troll I said eff it, I'm going to run next time. So while Lydia is kneeling I took off sprinting and thought for sure I had lost her to the troll. A minute later she comes walking behind me...

Well, when I became Thane of Whitehold, the Jarl granted me a battleaxe which had an enhancement that makes basically everyone run in Fear for 30 seconds. I am currently in a Fort west of Whitehold and decided when I am done cleaning it, I will send her back. Combat is becoming a real [censored] storm and I can't stand waiting around for her or kill her without intention.

I will scour the world alone for now.

I think my summoned fire atronauch killed her by accident.

Is there a way to make her respawn / resurrect?

If Lydia is that Companion warrior, i send her home (she disappeared) and i took that mage from Azura′s shrine. Kills 90% targets with 1 spell, and if that fails, there is fire atronach. Not planning on replacing anytime soon, because i hate when i try to kill a target at meele when there is someone else attacking it. Always end up killing anyone but the first target......

I don't know if my game is bugged, but Lydia is impossible to kill by mobs. When she gets ''killed'' she just falls on the ground and crawl, mobs still hit her but she keeps crawling, after leaving combat, she gets back up as nothing happened :P

You can check the companion stats via console if you're playing on PC. That Bulwark guy you get in Markarth has twice as much health as Lydia (though he doesn't sound hilariously annoyed when asked to carry stuff like Lydia does).
